OT: What I've been up to
michael, It definetlly has it's down time... and nothing is ever consistent. On our last patrol we had 7 major busts in 8 weeks... nearly $1 billion in street value. That's a lot of smack! This time has been just 1 so far in 6 weeks. When I'm not participating in the busts or SAR cases my normal job is an electronic's technician, more specifically I an electronics warfare tech. But the active time makes up for the mundane and trivial crap that a typical government employee has to deal with. The best part about the CG vs. the other branches of the military is that we don't just train to do a job that we may never do, we do our jobs all day every day. It's a good time and I've been in for 8 years now... and hey it pays for the Z! A percentage hard to guess 'cause it's different everyday... I'd say most patrols are about 10% and our last patrol was closer to 90%!!! Thanks to everyone for the kind words, it's really nice to hear that the job is appreciated. Nate

OT: What I've been up to
Hey everybody, for those of ya'll that haven't noticed - every 2 or 3 months I disappear for about 2 or 3 months. Here's a peak at what the Coast Guard Cutter I'm stationed on has been up to. Please check it out! go to http://www.d7publicaffairs.com/ then on the right hand side of the page click on Coast Guard Siezes 4000 pounds of cocaine. ~that's right, somebody just lost a lot of money! I've still got a little while before I get back stateside... but then I'll be at a nice cushy land job and have plenty of time to work on the Z! Nate

Need Advice on Watkins Glen
I just moved to Geneva which is about 30-45 mins from the Glen. I would love to meet up with any fellow members when they come through. There are hotels/motels up here by I-90 which is most likely the way you will be coming in... Many people drive HWY 20 from Buffalo, but trust me 90 is the fastest route. It would be a bit more of a drive to the track but you would have better luck getting a room. There is a Microtel in Waterloo/Seneca Falls right off 90. I lived in Buffalo for 4 years... September is a nice time to be in the area and I think that you'll find the finger lakes region to be absolutely beautiful. Let me know when you're in the area I'd love to do lunch or dinner or even a beer. My wife's entire family lives just south of Buffalo so I wouldn't shy away from a trip out that way. Nate

What is the most important thing in the Stock class?
Tomo, Zero. The car has never been used as a "show" car, so it needs a lot of work on the little things. This winter will be when I start the larger projects, right now I'm just enjoying the ride, getting ideas and compiling a list! Will you be making the short trek to Syracuse? Nate

What is the most important thing in the Stock class?
Ed, can't wait to see your Z! I should be able to make it to a couple of the days of this years show - since I'll be living in Geneva, just 1 hour from Syracuse. I hope to be able to enter my '72 in the daily driver class, no intentions of winning I just want to participate! It will be really good to meet all that can attend. Nate

What brand of tools do you use?
Mostly Craftsman here, with a few odd ones tossed in from when I was working at autozone ... Greatneck I believe... they are those seldom used tools, so I didn't mind. Since I get moved all over the country I find that Craftsman is the best for me because there is always a Sears nearby. My floor jacks jack stands and toolboxes are all Craftsman also ... even my new aircompressor - Thanks mom! Craftsman is expensive enough, there is no way I could justify Snap-on. Nate
