Well at least we agree on the ugly bumpers. That is why you do not see it on my front end and i will eventually remove the back one as well even though it leaves me in a bad situation if I ever get hit from behind. The bumpers are pretty heavy and would guess they are a large part of the weight increase.

Dont know if they are in Australia to be honest. They are two separate models the 280Z and 280ZX. The 280 has a similar body style to the 260 and 240. My icon/avatar to the left shows the pic of what my car looks like.

Headlights keep giving me problems. I have already replaced the switch twice now and all the other lights work fine. I can get the headlights to come on some of the time but only after I flip the switch 5 or 6 times and they will suddenly go out on me while driving sometimes. Checked all the fuses no problems there. All my connections under the steering column look fine- nothing loose. Any ideas on solving this problem?

According to Nissan Motors Web Site: 240Z 0-60 in 7.8 seconds -150HP 280Z (2+2) 0-60 in 9.4 seconds -149HP Basically a difference of just over a second. Now add a five speed and the horsepower on a 280 increases by 20HP to 170HP overall. I am sure a coupe model 280 is alot lighter than a 2+2 as well.

No i meant stock but you kept bringing up the weight issue. So he posts stats so did I.

Mine is a Z not a ZX in case that is what you were asking. No more pics right now. Working on restoring the interior before taking more photos.

I still say a 280 is faster. Do you think a 240z would beat a 280"ZX" standard not turbo? Just curious because I have beaten a few of them easily. As far as weight I have no front bumper and a fiberglass hood. Weight can vary from each car depending on what is done to it. My friend owns a 260 that he literally pushed with two fingers after running out of gas. Light as a feather. Zorro, you mean the logo on my icon/avatar? If so that is the logo for this club and you can download it from the homepage. Of course I modified mine a little in photoshop.

A "stock" 4 speed is not going to beat a "stock" 5 speed that has a higher overall horsepower. Does not matter if it is a Z, Honda or a Ford Pinto. Most members on this site own 240's so of course their opinions may be biased. Biased is one thing unrealistic is another. 280 wins deal with it.

Yeah just a little overweight. I eat too much fast food. :classic: I would agree the 240 might be a little faster off the line but not in the 1/4 mile. :devious:

Does this dealer have any 350Z's from a lottery as well?

You spelled weight wrong - more like wait! wait! I can't keep up. Sorry I just dont buy into a stock 240 being faster than a 5 speed 280. I know this is 240z.org since Mike used the logo I made at the top of the page. I am sure I will buy a 240 one of these days but the 280's look better in my opinion. Even if I buy a 240 I would add body kits to it since I never cared for how the front end and bumpers look on a 240.

    1977 - A "five-speed" overdrive transmission is added to the 280-Z and horsepower climbs to 170. 240Z Base HP - 150

240z faster than a 260 or 280z? Not unless it is modified. A stock 240 would be slower.

I have a 280 and I like the 280's more than 240's (ducks as members boo and throw food at the stage)

Nothing like taking a curve at 60 mph in a Z and hugging it like a rail. I was hooked as well after driving mine less than a week.
  19. I will guess 12k. Let us know when and if the reserve is met. You can always send him a message and he would probably tell you.

Maybe because it has that god awful green color? Nice car but would never drive a green car for that price. Good eye on the bungie cord. Who knows what else may be attached with bungie cords since it is owned by a dealer.

@grantman - be nice to the new guy
  22. Far right? Someone get this man some glasses. take the blonde in the middle.:lick:
  23. I would have to test drive her first. The car that is From the photos I have seen the interior of the car looks nice but not a big fan of the new body style. I think Nissan would have a hot product if they stayed with the old body style and slight variations on the new design such as volkswagen did with the new bug and ford with the new thunderbird adding touches of the old body style. If I ever get the artist pencils out again I guess I should post my version of what it should look like one of these days.
  24. Well no kidding. the 350Z is not over 30 years old either so it is not a collectible yet.
  25. And how much do you think the first 240z would be worth today? At the very least 10k+ so it is worth more than twice the original sticker price. Just depends on how popular the new model becomes after the hype fades.
