  1. Wow... At $500 each you'd think they would sell out quick too!
  2. BSR in the pits...
  3. Any vintage I want. My thread.
  4. I bought a 2+2 flywheel out of the classifieds here for $100 + shipping and then Dave Rebello told me he wants to use a lightweight aluminum on my engine... 8-/
  5. Hard to steer like that but impressive none-the-less!

You don't understand unstrung weight then...

I think Jon got that exactly right except when he said let's look at some other brake *upgrade* options. None of those clearly upgrades without some cost. The stock brakes in good serviceable condition are perfectly adequate. Those 4 piston Toyota calipers add at least 4 pounds of unstrung weight per side.
  8. I have had to do everything I can to slow Dave down. Racing season is over and he can build an engine like the 3.0 liter in 2 weeks. Less, if the stars align. I would be very careful with going off on your own on valve settings before any new engine is broken in. That cam can get tore up in very short order. Likewise on using anything but recommended oil. I use Brad Penn but we'll have to see what happens with the formula after the sale of the company goes through.

Spend some time on a Dyno too. I completely agree with Jon but if you want to know what is safe that's one thing, beyond a certain point, the engine doesn't make any more power, just noise.
  10. Correct Charles. Compression is two different animals. We are talking about static compression here. Mine, at 10.1:1 will make it harder for the starter to kick the rotating mass into motion when you turn the key. The dynamic compression is what the engine is working with while running. The static compression is higher as the cam takes away from the big number. I just don't want to use race gas ever. You never know when the government will take that away, the way lead went away. Then the closest thing we could come to race gas would be 100 LL AVGAS. We'd have to "know" someone at the fixed base operation so we could pull up to the pump and fill up. Big money too! :tapemouth
  11. True Leon. My problem is the coming down to see you peeps at sea level.
  12. It broke over time. Heat cooling cycles do that. Very common in Porsche 911 SC 3.0 liter motors.
  13. Dave Rebello likes compression. I had to talk him down from 11:1 and remind him I live at 4500ft and regularly drive through a 7000ft pass and down to sea level.
  14. I doubt that's your problem Herman. This sounds like a job for Gary Cook. Sorry I didn't get back to you on Facebook. Working 60-70 hours a week lately.
  15. My two favorite cars.
  16. Some PLN shots...
  17. Julio! Quit looking at the gauges and drive! :-)
  18. I was there today. They were busy but Dave said "racing season is over" so he may have time to finish other projects. To be fair, everything has to be as planned for his timeline to work. All core parts must be serviceable, no one in the talent chain can be sick or have a death in the family. He said 10 weeks for mine, but I haven't even pulled the head he's going to be modifying (E31) so I'm my own problem as far as time is concerned. Mine will be a 10.2:1 3.0 liter with 200+ at the rear wheels. The torque though is the real story with these motors. I just need enough to overcome the talent difference between me and Silver Streak... 8-D
  19. Digital approach to an analog problem... Not Les's thing. I'm amazed he has a website and admire him for not getting caught in the digital trap. Use the phone.
  20. I sold a set of Libres for $600 + shipping a few years ago but the value has dropped out because you can't find tires, especially performance tires for the 14" wheels...
  21. Eric doesn't mess around. He is likely to have them back to you within a few days. When you talk to him, tell him Rob said "anytime you can get me that price for those Audi A4 Porterfield R4S Pads, that would be fine..." Then tell him I'm just messin' with him. He keeps forgetting.
  22. Gary built it. Take it to Gary before it makes a popping sound...
  23. The aforementioned Eric is Eric Shea at PMB Performance (Search by that name). He uses new pistons, none of the rebuilders will. They will look like jewelry when you get them back.
