Its a little ways off. Need to save up for wheels and tires. There is nothing wrong with what I have right now. Just need to let it gel a while. I will probably do some gunmetal with a polished lip when the time comes... more conservative, or just leave it the heck alone and just get tires... thanks for all the advice.
  2. five and dime, Are those 15" or 16" panasports on your two 240's

Guys, I am coming from the world of Subaru WRX STI's. Gold to me is a performance rally color. I do like gunmetal as well.. but when I say gold I am thinking of something matt, and not bling shiney chrome. Gunmetal would work quite well too.. HAHA, bored, no, but I am having a hell of a time finding respectable street/autocross tires in 15" rim sizes. I know if I were to get 16" rims, I can get more choices in decent rubber. So the search for rims started!

I have strongly been thinking of picking up another set of panasports for my daily street driving and using my current set for autocross. I have always love the look of the gold panasports... Do you guys think I can pull that off?
  5. Have a great time, and yes, by all means more pictures...
  6. That balance tube should be seeing a vacuum not pressure. It connects to the tube Arne was talking about and it sucks the excess vapors out of the crank case to ensure pressure does not build up. If your getting pressure back through your intake, that means that during the compression stroke, there is a leak path back to the manifold, through an intake valve.

Well I just ripped all the wires out of my vintage JVC that came with my car, and I am looking for a replacement. I will have to look at the MSA vintage sound one.
  8. Very Much interested!!! I will be contacting you, as it seems this is the proper way to solve the problem. If there was a nice OEM replacement that would have worked I would have gone that direction, but using your harness was always the preferred solution.
  9. Well I am about tired of the crappy lights on my Z, and I am desperately wanting to update them. My cars alternator is completely stock as is all my wiring. I would like to upgrade, but was wondering what is the best choice, for a stock wired 240Z I know Zsonthebrain sells that fabulous wiring harness, and thats a good option. But is there an improvement possible without it?

and what your wife will allow.
  11. I think that 300 WHP in a Z is a mountain of power. So your looking for around 345 at the crank...wow. Thats huge. But for 8 to 10k you can definitely achieve it. Look into Rebello. They can build you a stroker motor.. http://www.rebelloracing.com/enginebuild.htm
  12. I will say this before you answer anything. A powerful responsive NA engine is a thing of beauty....
  13. How much power do you want? More importantly, how much power do you really need? What is the car going to be used for? How often will it be driven? and how? Does it need to be a daily driver? What is your budget? Is the rest of the car up to the task of more HP? These are all questions that need answers before any meaningful answer can be given.
  14. I am so glad you posted that pic Arne. I have that plastic cover that fits where the bottom seat connects to the top seat. but never knew where to put it, now I know!
  15. its got a new alternator For The WIN!!
  16. Buy a new sending unit. THey are relatively cheap and may help you out. MIne was nearing Zero with my original 37 year old gage. WHen I replaced it, I was reading about 20 psi at idle. THE sending units go bad after a while, its a common problem.
  17. Probably the same way I know.. heee heee.
  18. Just an update.. I had to replace my inner shift boot since mine was torn, now I am in the process of putting the thing back together. One questions though. ..Who thought it would be a good idea to sqeeze the fuse box through the tiny slit in the front of the console? Geeze! I also have managed to drop a tiny black screw somewhere on my black floormats on my black carpet. What fun! On a happy note, my choke mechanisms appear to be brand spanking new! Shy cad plated and everything.
  19. Same thing happened to me... I just got use to it. the poly tightens things up nicely.
  20. wow, just wow, great history there. Glad I picked up an ASNA before they were all gone. But a great story none the less. My fall back was going to be the Monza, but thats no more.
  21. So let me understand... it makes the hissing sound even when the car is not running, just with the power on. If thats the case, it sounds like you have a leak somewhere in the fuel system. I think 280Z's have an electric fuel pump. Normally a hissing would be attributed to a vacuum leak, but if the engine is not running, thats a tough one.
  22. Thanks for the clarification guys. I forgot to mention that. The only problem with going at it from the underside is shifter would spin when I turned the nut. And I had no way to grab the shifter hard enough to break the nut lose. From the inside, you can clamp down on the shifter. I also had my exhaust routed deep inside my driveshaft tunnel, so it was a bit in the way as well. Removing the center console was childsplay for my particular application.
  23. Just thought I would update on my zeds progress. I decided to install the shifter bushings I had ordered almost a year ago. Well, what I learned is its FAR easier to do this from inside the car, than underneath. So for anybody who is looking to do this, its a piece of cake. I found out that I was missing some compression washers on top of my rubber bushings, and thats why my shifter was spinning. So I fabricated some and now my shifter not only feels more 'gated' but it no longer spins!!!!
  24. You are correct, its suppose to be .20mm... on the intake and .25mm on the exhaust. Although I have always preferred a hot lash. I think it yields better results.
  25. This looks just awesome! I may have a weekend project soon.
