  1. Mine has a nice 4-car garage all to itself, with the heater nearby for when I get time to visit for repairs. I think I'd rather have the babe for myself! :cheeky: And since it's only 5 minutes from my house, I can visit often. thxZ
  2. Did you change yours? I thought there were made of steel.
  3. You'll get over it the next time you go out in the dark.
  4. Like I always say: The problem is ALWAYS simple... Finding it is the hard part. Those clear covers were put on ther for a purpose, I'd say. Just glad you found your problem! thxZ
  5. Great, I'll see you there then. thxZ & Merry Christmas
  6. I found the usual coinage and french fries. But in the back, there were a dozen or so golf balls, so I think it tells you what a PO used the car for. BTW, golf clubs in a bag fits just snug across the deck right behind the seats, but the balls will fall out. :disappoin
  7. Things are starting off slowly, as they should. As plans develop, they'll be easier to implement, and things will pick up.So far things are going without any hitches. I expect everything to be ready by the end of next September. Except my car, unless I win the MegaLotto. BTW- I think I was referring to Chris, when I was thinking about getting together in FL when I was there.
  8. I think it's Yoichi (yo-ee-chee)
  9. Well, that Japanese guy has lived in Ohio ( in the U.S.A.) for about 30 years so far. He's very cool... Look for information about the 2008 ZCCA convention on the website (www.clevelandrockZ.com) next month. thxZ
  10. I'm going to make use of my torpedo heater this winter to see if I can straighten out the mess of wires behind my radio. I wonder if you could get a photo of the wiring back there? (the wiring & plugs for the radio, hazard, defog switches.) thxZ
  11. Well, I hope you can be there! I'm working on the Poker Run and Autocross events. We have a new member in our club that's Japanese, so it'll be great to have the 'language barrier' out of the way ( I hope!) Club with Japanese cars.... Japanese 'car guy'... :beard:
  12. Dave, There aren't any oem relays for the lights in a 280Z. At least in the 78 280Z there arent. The relays are mostly for the ignition and fuel stuff. A couple for the safety equipment and the emissions stuff ( CA models.) Twforo or three for accessories. The wires do go through the inner fender, where there is a sharp-ish edge, and then into the headlamp protector, both of which could rub the wires and beak the conductors. Some wires change color when they go through the connectors behind the glovebox. A good wiring diagram will help to know which.
  13. No, he's not from the (80's?) TV commercial, E. Maybe this picture will help?
  14. A Z foundation? It looks like your translator program isn't so good... :cheeky:
  15. Waaasssup guys We had another planning meeting this weekend for next year's nationals. I can tell you that there is a day planned for hot-lapping at Mid-Ohio, a day of autocross, a Poker Run, sightseeing trips to the rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Football Hall of Fame, the science museum, a dinner cruise on Lake Erie, and other things to let you get the best of Cleveland, Ohio. We are even connecting with a famous actor (think nissan 300ZX) to be there in person, some live rock music, and lots of great food & parts vendors! The website for the Nationals is being updated with registration forms, including payment by PayPal, schedules, and all the rest of the details you'll need to know. Start looking here to register your car for next summer! Sep 29 - Oct 3, 2008 www.clevelandrockz.com thxZ
  16. Is there a how-to for a wiper motor rebuild for the 280Z? I have mine out of the car, and out of the bag. Even though it's almost 30 years old, the motor case is still nice and shiny, but I don't think I want to go inside unless I know what is there. thxZ
  17. Don't forget a tow bar! You'll need it to tow that 2400 Lbs of tools & stuff! I've even seen people sugges that you take alternators, fuel pumps, a spare set of hoses... I think the best thing you could do is have a budy go along with you in another car, maybe even drive there instead of flying, and split the load. thxZ
  18. Going to California? Are you going to be crossing any deserts? If you are, I'd suggest a water container, 2 gallons minimum. Plus some for yourself, unless you plan to pee in your radiator if it gets low. If you are able, you could buy the toolkit at a KMart,WalMart, etc. when you get the car. You'll get your food items just before hitting the road too. Rememnet to get stuff that won't melt! :cheeky:

WOW, it sold already... No bidding even.
  20. I have mostly thumbs, so if there are any springy things and loose stuff like brushes that you can't GOOP into place, then I would probably have an experienced person do it instead.

Its pretty amazing what some people will do to get money these days. I'm up to a total of $31 Mill in inhertiences from rich uncles and friend in Europe!
  22. Is this ( cleaning the insides/brushes/etc.) something you can have done at an electric motor service place? thxZ
  23. Great. Now we all know how to get your cars to run... Is it possible to use a Datsun keyed thing as a switch? The same key as the doors or ignition, maybe.

FWIW, there aren't any relays involved with the headlights on a 78 280Z. The power for the headlights comes from a fuse link, to the headlight combo switch, then to the fuses (one per side) then back through the combo switch, then through the connectors behind the glovebox, then to the lamps ( through the common wire) then back to the dimmer switch for hi & low beam. You really should take your glovebox out and pull off all those connectors behind there to give the pins ( not blades) a good shot of DeOxit 100. I noticed an improvement in the lighting on my car after I did that. Also, the "big round fuse thing" for the blinkers isn't really a fuse. It's a switch that's controlled by a bi-matallic strip inside. It makes & breaks the circuit for the turn signals and hazard lights, and the current flowing through it is what determines the flashing rate, which is why the lights flash faster when a bulb is out, or slower with new or extra bulbs. Zanthus, are you trying to replace just that one part of the harness, that goes to the console? The wiring on a 280Z is in several large sections like engine bay/front, dash, interior, and rear, so you may just want to repair (properly) what you have, unless you want to splice in a whole section. Fortunately the hazard switch has its own connection into the dash wiring harness. thxZ
