http://www.deltacam.com/ You send them your used rockers and for $6.00 each (last year's price)they'll return them promptly like new. I sent them 48 and they did them for $4.00 each. Good guys to work with.

Chris.....Yes, duration can be confusing because manufacturers may select any lift to advertise duration. It would be interesting to see what Nissan used to come up with 248 degrees duration. If .020 lift is 270 and .050 is 222, it must be somewhere in between. Guy

http://www.iskycams.com/onlinecatalog.html The Isky Stage I is a stock 240Z camshaft reground to a higher lift (.475 vs .413), but with the same duration as stock. Click on the above link, on the left, click on Datsun, then on L24 page 176. For the Stage I regrind they list duration at .050 lift at 222 degrees and indicate that that is the same duration as stock. .

Isky didn't know what valve lift the factory uses........Isky uses .050 valve lift. Advertised duration at Isky is at .020 valve lift. They show an advertised duration of 270 degrees (at .020 inch valve lift) and 222 degrees (at .050 inch) for the stock 240z camshaft.

I know the feeling Zedyone......The feeling that you wish you could slow things down enough to stop the inevitable. Last weekend I was making the last cut of my lawn on my "Double Mulching John Deere" riding lawn mower. Cutting faster and faster as I leaned into the apexes. Unfortunately I noticed my wallet (which had slid out of my pocket on the last lap) just in front of the beast.........tried to hit the brake on the hydro-static drive tranny....hit the gas instead......it was like a slow motion dream. The mulching feature worked to perfection......bits of health cards, drivers licenses, twenty dollar bills, boat registrations etc. etc. Have you every tried to first, find bits of bills in a lawn, and then try to tape them back together? Sorry about your chip!:stupid:

Chris.....Isky lists it's Stage I cams at 270 degrees advertised and 222 degrees at .050 inches (same as stock).See link below. http://www.iskycams.com/onlinecatalog.html

I believe that the stock 240Z had an advertised duration of 270 degrees and a lift of .410 inches.
  10. If you're not using new rockers, I wouldn't have him regrind your cam. Cams in a stock Z engine rarely have any noticeable wear, and if you do regrind, you probably should install remanufactured rockers to seat in with the new cam.If you don't regrind, make sure he keeps the old rockers numbered, so each goes back on it's existing cam lobe. Re price.........he isn't going to make any money at $1500.00. It's an excellent price! (don't forget a new chain tensioner)
  11. Yes, from the 70's......but not to cover anything up. It's quite a well preserved original Z. Not much required to get it to 100%
  12. Jamie.....We tried to buy it forever....... I finally gave up and already have the Safari Gold 71 now. How much principle can someone have? By the way, I still need to get by to see your "stuff". Maybe after X mas. Happy Holidays!!! Guy
  13. The difference between men and boys is "the price of their toys!" Beautiful car.......beautifully done. My friend did one with an RB26........Blazing torque and acceleration. Wish I could put Blakt's car in my garage. Unfortunately builders who do everything first class rarely recoupe their dollar investment, and that doesn't even include the 2,000 hours of labor, but most people who do nice resto's get most of the satisfaction "doing it right!" When's your birthday Brandon?
  14. I bought new clips from Black Dragon last year......they list them as brake hose lock plates and brake hose lock springs.......I bought the rubber blocks from Jim Frederick....Carl could probably tell you if he still has some. Guy

I've done it on all 5 of my engines(no problem).......a little tapping on the sides of the towers with a rubber mallet helps.......tighten down in small doses and check the torque chart....it may be a max of 12 ft. lbs.

Why is "Bra" singular and "Pants" plural. How about the "Birddog Bra".......makes Pointers out of Setters! :stupid:

You sure do need to come out Brian....the new L24 in the 73 is a real ball to drive.....It really sings at RPM........ I'm working out there most every weekend.... Sundays are good 'cause deer season's in and the rockfish are starting to move into the Chesapeake!!

Thanks for posting the pics Brian........I want to get by and see the progress myself. Don't hesitate to call on me if you need help. As soon as Chuck gives me the OK on the new door handles, the old ones are yours at a price you'll appreciate......free. Guy

Ditto what Jon says.......and don't over-torque the cam tower bolts....... 10 to12 foot pounds max if my memory serves me correctly.

Yes.....I've had head bolts stuck so bad from carbon build-up they had to be sent to a machine shop to be removed from the head. If the head bolts broke off up in the head, you won't be able to drive it off with the block of wood as Andrew mentioned (and I agree with), but you may be able to break it loose. Then pick it straight up if the bolts are up in the head. I'd be careful with a putty knife on an aluminum head (IMO).
  23. I must have installed mine on bass akwards!! :stupid:
  24. Arnie.....All you need to do is loosen the forward muffler clamp and rotate the muffler to what ever position suits you.......It didn't come with instructions, so I'm not sure how they recommend you hang the muffler. Those turbo mufflers sure do breathe good!
  25. http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=40158 I installed the same system on my 73 last weekend. I was amazed at the fit and finish. Everything bolted right up and the hangers were in the exact right spots(nice system). I did have to take the muffler to a shop to open up the end so that it would slide over the exhaust pipe. The shop did it for free......2 minutes. I also think it's a tad bit loud, but might have a resonator installed to tone it down just a bit! I took some pics......see above. Guy
