  1. I agree, He'll be happier with a 2 seater coupe, at least I am
  2. First of all Welcome to the Club The only Nissan dealer in my town has the "books" for Datsun Z's as far as I know what to charge you. But when I went to get mine fixed the guy in charge said they don't have anyone here that knows about these cars. He said they used to have a guy who was a Nissan/Datsun mechanic for 35 years but moved to Texas. "All the other guys", he said ,"only know how to work on these cars right here". And I mind you he was pointing at Buick Centuries  :hurt: Your best bet is look for one owner Import / Specialties shops or even shops that specialize in restoration and upkeep / maintinance of classics. It's usually those kinds of places you'll find that has that one guy in there who knows what he's doing by fact of knowledge on a Z. At least around here IMHO. ~Z~
  3. Thats a good point of view Carl Use the Photobucket website to host all those additional pics so you can list them on Ebay if you go that route. You'll save a ton of money on extra images cause you'll be adding them to your listing for free at no charge. Plus you can add links to the listing for your photo bucket 240Z Album allowing buyers to see all the extra pics there aswell. Just a helpfull tip so you won't feel discouraged from taking extra pics thinking you have pay those outrageous Ebay picture fees ~Z~
  4. It sure is a Saab, BOO HOO HOO... :rambo: Na, really though I was trying to remember the name right (Sonnet) and typed the wrong manufacture instead. I've read about the Saab Sonnets and seen a few pictures on my old camera phone but never seen it in an article before. I have to say I was very impressed with the design How much overbore is needed for the 3.0 conversion? You know, the one MSA sells to increase displacement or is that just a matter of increase the stroke. ~Z~
  5. I think it matches well with the color of the car It's a new look fo sure.
  6. Can't get mine up till Thursday at the earliest. Anyone else?
  7. More Rust than mine but is a '70 For comparison here in California I paid $2000 for mine and $500 in upkeep and basic parts like Fuel Pump and Spark plugs and such. No rust under car or on frame (Thank Lord). Only found 2 spots, one on drivers side rocker below 280Z emblem and little bit of surface rust where the paint has chipped around the gas door. Paint and body work and interior was already done and engine rebuilt. But they put the wrong Intake / Exhaust Gasket on when they reassembled the Engine and the PO never figured out that was causing the Engine to run bad. My Z is Fuel Injected and they used the 240Z Carborated version which has no holes for the fuel injectors. That $18 dollar part likely saved me 2 Grand All thats needed now is seats and carpet. Oh yeah, NOS dash boards I hear are going for $1,800
  8. What color is the Oil supposed to be BTW?
  9. Thyanx for the link fix Arne Yeah I tried that too. This is what the Cover looks like Notice no mention of a Z. Tha Opel in there's pretty cool though, (the Blue one in the top corner) It's on the News Stands now, been there about a week. Maybe the Website hasn't updated yet as non of those cars are in the magizine
  10. I take that back, actually it was In this months issue of Hemmings Sports & Exotic Car And the website is http://www.hemmings.com/subscribe/current_issue.html?publication=HSX"]http://www.hemmings.com/subscribe/current_issue.html?publication=HSX. Although it is not in there now as the one they show might be last months issue now currently visible. Maybe a search function by issues may help. ~Z~
  11. FYI 14120-N4702 is for California 280Z 1977 - 1978 and 14120-N4701 is for Federal according to MSA and other dealers
  12. Ya'll should pick up this months issue of Collectible Automoble Magizine. Theres a Yellow 1971 240Z in the restoration profile section that was restored by Pierre Z as a "prototype" to the 50 or so Z's they did for the Nissian restoration program. Some of you Cats and Kittens out there might know this story already but for those who don't, the story and pics of this paticular '71 Z's restoration process (before and after) are great :classic: I couldn't find the magizine's website online but pic it up, it's worth the read and also note theres no mention of the article on the cover so thumb through it and look for the restoration profile / profile's to make sure you have the right copy of the mag. ~Z~
  13. Nice wheel and tire combonation man Also nice to see you leading the Pack ehh
  14. Yeah, give it up for Tha Double 7
  15. Your all right guys, I'll get off that Cylinder Head idea. And order the new EGR Tube from Nissan, Reasemble and go from there as suggested. I'll update as progress is made of course. Word of advice, if you order a new Water Temperture Sensor from MSA don't tighten it to tight. I was installing a new one of those aswell and the hex part of the bolt twisted off leaving it connected only by the "sensor" thing inside. So I had to take that out and put the old one back in. Thyank goodness for the return policy
  16. Alright..., Heres What Happened.... I took off the Intake and Exhaust Manifold and sure enough, wrong gasket. First I had to take off the Intake Man from the Cylinder head but which was still attached to the Exhaust Man by the EGR Tube. LUCKILY FOR ME i haed cracked the tube trying to unbolt it, so I pulled the Intake towards me then rocked it up and down making the crack wider like a credit card. Rose it up one more time then pulled towards me in a half turn and twisted it off at the crack counter clocke wise. Exhaust manifold was next after taking off the exhuast pipe at the Y joint. Sure nuff there was a square exhaust port, non FI, carberetor version gasket on my car. The Fuel Injectors were squirting right on the side of the gasket with so much force ,or so long, it wore off the rubber on it down to the metal part. Leaving a silver hump right above the Intake hole cut outs. Tahing off the gasket theres Square shaped exhuast dust on the head. Put my finger in the Exhaust Ports and came out with black soot like a Bar-B-Q grille Well anyway I'll post pics soon as I can. ~Z~
  17. Do they make those with out the edge? The edge ones make the Z look like a cheese wedge!

HI ! I also have a '77 and her name's RUBY Got here few months ago and loving 4 gears ever since. She's a work in progress herself as far as the engine goes but otherwise she's good and can't wait to hit the gears again. It's nice to see another girl on the forum, WELCOME ~Z~
  20. Hmm.. If I went none EGR with a N47 Intake and Exhaust Manifold would I have to change any Vacum lines or anything just so I know.
  21. Frikin AWESOME ! Your attention to detail is outstounding. That must of tooking awhile to get that bumper off :rambo:
  22. How about getting it welded back? Hope it's cheap but A shop here in town can do it if I bring it in maybe. Was hopeing for a quick fix :stupid:
  23. Speaking of which the EGR Tube on my '77 cracked. Can I saw this thing in half at the crack and use a rubber hose with some clamps, and Gasket Sealent maybe, to connect the two halfs back together?
  24. You can problely thank Gran Turismo video game for that. First thing I did when I bought my first car in that game on PS2 (a Nissan Skyline Gts-t Type M J' 91), J meaning Japan model, was get a 1998 Sonic Silver Metallic JDM 300ZX then imediately went looking for the old school 1971 S30 Fairlady 240ZG which I won in a race and came as Grand Prix Moroon
