  1. Thank you, it's gettin' there but it's still in a work in progress. I have gone to tire rack to look at a bunch of different sizes and brands, and I think if I was going to use the same size that is already on it now (205/60r14) I would probly go with these. http://www.victoriatire.com/tires.html?cart=1063230954983470&brand=Falken&NAME=Ziex%20ZE-512%20%2860%20Series%29 If I end up going with a bigger size as I'm thinking about (225/60/14), I've read some good reviews on those Yokohamas that you have, so I might decide to go with those if if that's what I decide to do. Basically, the handling and performance of the tire would be one of main things that I would be looking for and want from the tires.
  2. In the near future, I'm going to have to replace the tires on my 280z as their right on the wear mark and have some cracks. The size that are on it now are 205/60r14 Federals on 14x7 rims. By researching this size online and by going to a couple tire stores, this size is very hard to come by and I can only seem to find about two brands that carry that size out there right now. I'm thinking of maybe going up to a 225/60R14. I personally like the look of a slightly bigger/wider tire on a Z and would really prefer not to go back to the stock size of the car (195/70-14 ). What size and brands of tires are you guys currently running on 14x7rims? I'm not looking at buying tires for it tomarrow or anything, but would like to have in mind what I will want to buy for it when it comes down to it. Thanks for your opinions. (And I have used the search button!! )
  3. Also I forgot to add one thing, what kind of tires did you put on the Westerns and how do you like them? Before long I'll be replacing the Federals on my car (205-60r14) and would like to maybe get a slightly larger size if possible.
  4. Both very nice! I've got a set of Westerns on my my 280 that we restored and painted. Don't forget those Z caps though! Very nice! Here are mine
  5. Great post, I really agree with you on that. Does anybody have a link To Carl's post on the trailer queen? I'd love to read it!
  6. Imagine what it would bring at Barrett Jackson!
  7. Check out this 78' Black Pearl edition Z on Ebay. I think he's asking to much. It looks like in the back round that he's got some real nice Z's, see if you can find them. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1978-BLACK-PEARL-280Z-5-SPEED-W-28K-ORIGINAL-MILES_W0QQitemZ300069673991QQihZ020QQcategoryZ6187QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  8. Thanks guys for the help, I got it replaced this afternoon. I assume on the end of the hose where it connects on to the valve that it was supposed to have a clamp there, it just pulled right off, so I stuck an O clamp on the end of it to keep it snug.
  9. The picture in the ad looks horribly blurry and can hardly make out what the car looks like, but go check it out if you're interested.
  10. Thank you for the diagram that does help me to understand what it does. Does anybody by chance have a good picture of where it is on the engine. I seem to be over looking it some how from looking at the diagrams. Thanks again.
  11. Either that or he gave it a good wax job.
  12. This one reminds me of Arnes. Check out that photography too. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/71-Datsun-240Z-Fantastic-Original-Condition-NO-RESERVE_W0QQitemZ140072216966QQihZ004QQcategoryZ6187QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  13. Here's the rear of my 76 280z. <a href="http://img355.imageshack.us/my.php?image=backdl6.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/1475/backdl6.th.png" border="0" alt="Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us" /></a>
  14. Thanks for the help guys, that helps a lot. What exactly does the PCV valve do? Correct me if I'm wrong, but it has something to do with emissions?
  15. I feel kind of funny asking you guys this not knowing what I have here, but I was looking through my parts box and came across this part that we bought at Napa a few years ago and apparently haven't installed it yet. I showed it to my dad and he didn't remember what it was either. I tried looking the through the shop manual and couldn't come up with anything. Any way, here is a picture of it and would love to know what this is! Thanks. -Austen.
  16. Yuck! No wonder he made the pictures so small!
  17. For Christmas I got a leather wheelskin cover for it. My dad and I spent last night putting it on. It took us believe it or not an hour and half! We encountered a few nots along the way, but in the end it turned out great! It's a great upgrade for it I think and has a great new better feel to it.
  18. I see, thanks for the info!
  19. I was curious what the fuel tank capacity is on a 1976 280z? I think I heard that it was 17 gallons but was curious if this was correct.
  20. Sounds like a fun drive! Looks like I've got that same key tag as you got too!
  21. Welcome to the site! I drive my 76' 280z every day as it is my first car. As long as you take good care of it and keep it in tune there shouldn't be any problem there.
  22. Yup, and also like I said it adds a lot of weight to the back of it which I would assume would change the handling characteristics of the car, something you wouldn't want changed on a sports car.
  23. I just got my car back from the shop today and we had them install new ball joints and tie rods since they were extremely worn out. I can't believe the improvement this made on it! It handles, corners and drives atleaste 10 times better than before when the steering wheel used to shake off and on. We took home the old ball joints to take a look at them and there was a lot of play in them so it was a good thing we had them replaced.
  24. Thanks for your help and suggestions, I'll menchean this to my dad tonight and I'll see what he says. -Austen.
  25. Alright, that's good to know.
