  1. Was there ever a 240z "50 anniversary". Someone asked me if the one he saw was a real edition or a nasty "fake" ! I know about the 280ZX, and the 300zx (z31) special edition but nothing about the 240z Allan ?
  2. wrong side on the 280zx, 300zx (z32) guess it's the same for the z31...
  3. Allan, Nissan did their homework... proff that you can learn from your own mistakes
  4. Humm!!! it is the same with human today. I am the French version of Paul Newman, really only the panneling is different Surgery do wonder today ROFL ROFL
  5. "Mondeo" Go wash your hand and your keyboard now, their must be some kind of rules against using word like that on this forum :classic: I must admit your right, their is more than panel work to a car. My mum had a "Le Car" when we lived in Ohio, very far away from the Reanult 5 she had in France before, but you can't tell it from outside so! But aren't we far away from Allan post here?
  6. I didn't say the Z styling was inspired an american car, but the Celica is, so are the big Sedans and the pick-up line. Not quite as the same scale. The Z is very European you are right, and Mr G (goofy?) as not a lot to do with that. The only american inspiration is in the overall size of the beast, even biger than the european one... So back to the famous lever, have you thought about the stupid mistake, the one we have all done one day, the big "gee I forgot" maybe it went trough without real concern? and maybe someone said "oups" at the end of the line but it was too late? That would be second flaw of this diva, and what could be the #1?
  7. Allan, do you think that maybe the Japanese used American "inspiration" (I know you would not appreciate the term copy" for the Z as they did for the look of some of their other cars, Skyline +-, celica +++, Laurel+++, cedric++++++... And that the Z concept was so good that, maybe sometime in the story, they decided to make a world car out of the Z ???? So the inspiration did make it some kind of American car but the primary target could have been the home one?? Wish my English would be better, wish my brain could be smarter... but hey this is Z land after all... Fred
  8. Just before "Uncle Allan" step in this one... I think that is more a Prince issue, as they had some design lincence from Mercedes. Some, say that you can even use a few parts from those Merc engines like pistons... Allan, it's yours now... :classic:
  9. sorry, but with this lever in the eye I am having a hard time reading those posts...:stupid: :stupid: :stupid: :stupid:
  10. Hate to do that, be "go to the search area" of the forum... Yes, I am SURE that you can use spacers if the quality of the later are our of question, and just as long as the "print" area of the tire is the same... If you cross the line, well ...
  11. Sorry Carl, I am sure you mean on the right side, next to the pull knob for the side fresh air vent of my RHD. Where else would it be? And now, ladys and gentleman the Big Deal Q : Where is that damned lever on a on Mac Laren Supercar, as the driver seat is in the midle? Ouch, ergonomic should hurt a lot if the right place for this lever is right in the middle of the car !!!!
  12. Brakes?????? never used them never will, only the coward do...
  13. Humm!, I was looking at a Z32 interior pict, and the handbrake lever is STILL on the right side even for the LHD ?????? Maybe it's really a DATSUN trade? By the way where is your bonnet/hood release lever on your car ? I use often a Freelander as a daily driver and it is under the dash still on the right side even so it's a mass market LHD build in this new millenium ???? Tacky Britt... LOL

can you believe it? and we even have 5 chapters... it's been there since the end of the 50'
  15. looks like aluminium to me ! or aluminiezd stuff...
  16. I'd rather be behind you anyway, it's a lot less azhardous. You see, Sean as a slight tendency to preserve his brakes by using the one in front of him for stopping ! Ouch (Ok, rubbing is racing but hell...).
  17. almost what I had in mind, execpt using mylar sticker instead of polishing the metal... I am lazy lad!
  18. Just in between would be fine for me...
  19. I took my rear lens appart, and found that it was far from hi-end tech in there! No wonder it does not shine like the Christmas tree it should be. Only a dull semi-gloss reflecting surface and a lot of air… I will see if I can improve the beast, and I will let you know…

Just a quicky here, any Lions Club member around our communitiy? Fred
  21. Yes, yes yes yes. Well, if your plan eventually fail, do you think we could ask those UN guys to look for any rust free Z that might be in the Irakian desert? Well, you never know, I could ask?
  22. Allan, have you been in a rally buggy? I think they have what could close this argument, dual hand-brake. Right, one for each side of the rear wheel, so you can turn very tight on mudy hairpins. So what would be right for a rally Z fanatic is to use both lever on each side od the trans tunel ! If we start counting, I vote hand-brake wrong for a LHD and right for a RHD. PS, are you doing any Monte-Carlo revival with all the snow you get in UK latelly? Fred
  23. Now that I am a bit older, a bit more Nissan educated, there is a question runing in the back of my head. Why Nissan didn't send the whole package to the world? The Z is my dream, my main occupation in life. I also know that if (yes the old what if...) my garage would be big enough, my bank account large enough, I would have an old Skyline. I am sure that they would have scored big as well this this model. I rather have a skyline coupé in order to move 4 peoples than a 260 2+2! I my opinion, they almost invented the BMW Mx concept, big engine in a small package. But you don't rewrite history...
  24. I was looking at a Dino dash a while ago and wonder if we could have a Z dash done in leather ? Ever been done tastefully? When I look at all the amazing quality of the things done in leather in country like Morocco or Tunisia, and their little cost, I think that their should be a second life for all our cracked dash
  25. Anything new under the sun ? What can you do without France? Well a lot I guess, and there is also a lot that you could do with them! This isn’t going very far. Lets see it an other way, will you. What have the French done that you wouldn’t do? Well 60 years ago, while they had the great Colonial Empire, the French gave a lot of good advice to the world, like the arrogant young nation they where (only one century and a half after the Nation was born), they wanted to rule the world against the will of all their ‘allies”. They were up there, confident and sure to have the right with them. Well they had their butt kicked. Today the Empire is long gone… and if the French speak today, it’s with the voice of a nation older, maybe wiser? They just say, don’t do the same mistake we did, “Democracy” isn’t the power of the mass, it’s the protection of the minority. So don’t go against the world, listen and learn and I am sure that you could succeed where we have failed. And above all do not take all you see, read, hear for granted… France isn’t the French government, like all American are not thinking like your president… It’s only my modest 2 cents, I still have a few left in my pocket. And by the way, nothing for Doehring ? how unfare!!!! Take care, Fred
