Hose from top of head

Hi

Currently swapping my single carb for some dual SU's from a 240Z, and have a question...

I have the non-stock air filter, so how should I connect the hose thing coming off the top of the head? Most other hoses and stuff line up pretty perfectly (with the exception of some weird things at the back and the throttle/choke).

Here are some pictures I found for reference.. see what I mean?

The little air filter thingy on hte second one looks mighty fine, but I'd rather not have to go and buy stuff to fit on...

Thanks!

I have seen it done a few ways:

Buy a brass plumbing fitting, and fit it into the chrome plate, then just put your hose onto this (tightarse version on one of my cars was a plastic plumbing elbow and some blutac)

The little filter, which would probably be the cheapest and easiest.

And finally a length of garden hose cable tied to under the car body up in the transmission tunnel (out of sight out of mind)

So is it almost going with the new carbs??

The hose is the upper crankcase breather hose and normally connects to the back of the air filter housing. You should filter that connection so as not to introduce contaminants into the engine and, of course, keep it open to allow the engine to breathe.

YOU DONT HAVE TO . BUT IF YOU WANT THE ENGINE TO KEEP CLEAN , IT'S NEEDED . IF YOU HAVE ANY BLOW BY THE FUMES WILL END UP INSIDE THE PASSINGER COMPARTMENT so you will need to vent it under the engine and hope for the best.
