Isky Cams

Featured Replies

Has anyone used a Isky Cam brand on their Z? Looking on using their stage II on my daily driver. Running an 82 P90/L28 with raised compression and SUs with SM needles.

I'm running the Isky L-480 on a bored out L24, E31 head w/ larger valves installed. Its a nice cam. Has a lope at idle. Isky has been in business for a long time and they also make the Nissan L7 and L9 race cams which are the Isky L-475 and L-490

I paid $180 and thats for the internally oiled camshaft. Crane Cams have gone up in price, $322 ouch!

You can call Isky and ask them about there cams. There is one guy I talked to who is very knowledgeable on Z's, sorry I don't remeber his name.

Would do you think the Isky L-490 cam is too much for the SU+sm needles carbs fuel supply?

JB

I don't think the L-490 would be too much for that setup. When I talked to Isky they actually recommended the L-490. I went with the L-480 because I didn't want to get too much cam. Be sure your compression is around 10:1. You will also need to use performance springs since the lift will be well over .460

Thanks, Doing the shaved P90 shimed tower and springs setup. Will get their springs and retainers prices online are pretty good.

Check with Lynchburg Nissan 800-443-2117 and ask for Riley. He is a great Z parts manager and their prices are very competitive. I bought just about everything for my rebuild from there.

I have used Isky for 40+ yrs and I think the co. and there cams are 1st rate. A friend of mine built a 4 engine dragster and used Iskys. Two engins ran clockwise and tow counter clockwise. That was light yrs ago but if a co is still in business you know they know what they are doing. Crane has been around a long time also , I would check them both out , and get the grind that sutes you best!
