I have a fresh 5 speed. I bought it in Santa Clara CA. And had the fitted garage open it up and replace the first gear due to shifting from reverse into first without coming to a full stop. They did a full inspection and put it back together. They don't make this gear anymore but Toyota does.

So you used a Toyota gear to repair your Datsun 5 speed? What was the Toyota gear from? Part number?

Do you need a first gear or r u just squeezing my shoes?

I am trying to document it so it can be found in the future when I or someone else needs one. Lot's of Toyota gears out there...
