I just bought this 77 280z and have been trying to figure out if the paint and the strips in particular are original. I was told the paint was original (and it looks it) but I have yet to find a 77 280z with the same stripes. 

I have a feeling the stripes are after market but unsure. Any thoughts or insight would be much appreciated.

There's a different set of stripes that Nissan used on their ZZZAP model.  Never seen yours.

That looks aftermarket.  I had a friend who bought a new 1977 Celica and had stripes painted on to the new car's paint.  It was a thing back then.

I hope you are able to preserve those stripes. They may not be full on 1970s orange/brown/yellow goodness (, , but they're pretty awesomely 70s!

 

 

Thanks for the info and love the pics of the van. I will definitely keep the strips, wish they were original though.
