Posted August 3, 20168 yr comment_500161 The paint shop that restored and paint my car cannot fit the front bumper guards in the new front bumper i bought! Really weird. I have attached pictures of the bumper without the guards. I bought this bumper on EBay and was shipped from Canada. Shop argues there is some slight difference between the original front bumper and this one and that there is not enough clearance between the bumper guards and the front Hood. if the Hood is opened it touches the bumper guards. How do we solve this issue? I thought the purpose of the Project was to have the car as it came out from the Factory in 1972. This is a US model!! Am i missing some parts here? August 3, 20168 yr comment_500163 Based on the holes for the bumper guards, it looks like a '73 bumper. On the 70 thru 72 models the bumper guards are flush on the outside with the grill. The rubber strips on your bumper are correct for a '72 and that is where the bumper guards should be. Also I think the '73 bumper guards are larger. August 3, 20168 yr Author comment_500176 Should i leave it this way?? Does it look fine? I had already invested US$100 on replating the bumper guards so i could fasten them to this new bumper! What a pitty!! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/55900-front-bumper-guards-do-not-fit-on-aftermarket-bumper/#findComment-500176 Share on other sites
