Curiosity question and not life changing : why are some (1974/5) 2+2 chassis rails shorter on the left (drivers') side compared to the RHside and why also only from (about) 1976 onwards ?

 

I have only seen this on LHD 260Z 2+2s over here and don't know if this is the same for RHD 260Zs and all 2+2 280Zs.......can anyone confirm the differences and help date the changeover please ?

Hello, My LHD 1976(5/76 build date) 280 2+2  is the same as the pics you posted,shorter rail on left side. I hope this points you in the right direction
