I am putting my 1970 240Z back together. The hood has no sign of any holes being drilled for the mounting of the round Datsun hood badge. (1) Did the early 1970's have this emblem/badge, (2) how far from the front tip of the hood should the bottom of the emblem be??

Mine is exactly 2 3/4" along the centerline from the bottom of the emblem to the front edge. I think all the cars had this emblem.

Yep. 2 3/4" or 70 mm from the front lip of the hood on mine as well.
