if the door latches on a 76 280 are the old or newer style found on the 77/78 cars

Now I'm gonna have to go out to the garage (-20) and see if the handles from my '78 are any different from the ones on my '73.

If remember correctly, they're identical.

sorry If I was vague...I mean the door catches. I have a set of 78 doors and I need to know if they will work on a 76. The catches were changed however I am not sure when!

From what I can gather, the 70-76 strikers and stoppers were the same, while the 77-78 were different...

But, it seems like if you have 78 doors all you would need to do is change to the later strikers etc.. and they should work OK.

Andy Russell has the door striker kits listed as up to 76, but unfortunately I don't see the parts listed in his 77-78 price list. You might want to call him(480-343-2962) or e-mail him at z@datsundude.com to see if he has them available..... His hardware kit is $69 for everything including the receivers, shims, strikers and mounting bolts up to 76, so if he can get the later ones, they are quite reasonable.

Thanks 2 many! I remember years ago I swapped doors on my 78 2+2 for a set of 75's. After much care hanging my gorgeous 50 dollar set of doors, I went to close the door and it bounced right back at me.
