March 5, 201312 yr comment_416950 INST3D, That really looks great. You might get requests now from people who want to see different wheels on your model! March 5, 201312 yr comment_416956 Looks fantastic, can't wait to see it finished! If the model is dimensionally sound, it would be a great tool to try out different things without actually having to mess with your Z. I'm sure engine-swappers would love it. March 19, 201312 yr Author comment_418311 Thank you guys! so I've decided to make retopology at this stage, not to make it when the model is more detailed Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43715-s30-in-3d/?&page=11#findComment-418311 Share on other sites
March 19, 201312 yr comment_418318 I had to go look up that word retopology, which seems to mean the polygon count is reduced to make it ready for painting or animation? March 19, 201312 yr Author comment_418322 well, not to reduce the polycount, but to make the wire look good(now it's terrible, but ok for static geometry which doesn't deform, but I'm gonna play a lot with the model so I need a "playable" wireframe) About polycount:I really don't mind high values(for now the car has about 4 million polygons with symmetry)because it is easy to handle it in viewports(parts of a programm where you are working in) as you can lower the resolution of the model Models with both good and bad topology will look same on renders, but the bad one will be hard to operate with And yep,the bad one is shaded in a bad way(that works only for viewports, not for renders) Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43715-s30-in-3d/?&page=11#findComment-418322 Share on other sites
March 19, 201312 yr comment_418327 If I understand, when you make retopology it allows you to push and pull on the model to adjust it? Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43715-s30-in-3d/?&page=11#findComment-418327 Share on other sites
March 19, 201312 yr Author comment_418331 It allows you to re-made the model based on the initial mesh Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/43715-s30-in-3d/?&page=11#findComment-418331 Share on other sites
