January 15, 200322 yr comment_23295 you have the engine to use them. some people just put them in for looks and the sound of 6 barrels going off does sound wonderifulif you have a engine that can benefit from more fuel then yes this would be a good choice.in any event i have bought from this guy and he is OUTSTANDING as a seller. i dont think you could find a better person to deal with on ebayi havent checked his rating but i doubt you will find one negative Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4275-dellorto-or-solex-vs-su-type/#findComment-23295 Share on other sites
January 15, 200322 yr comment_23341 $510 seems steep for used carbs only. Bear in mind you'll have to get a manifold, linkage, air horns, and filters. I spent $600 for a set of used 45mm OER Racing 3x2s last year, and that included manifold, linkage, and air horns. I then spent $280(!) on an ITG filter an backing plate. Just be aware of what the not-included stuff is going to cost you.As Zme said, there's likely not much benefit unless you've got a serious motor (cam, headwork) for serious track usage. And 40mm is probably too small for 2.8+ liter engines if you really want to get the high-rpm performance these kinds of carbs are made for. I'd do all other engine work before going to triples. January 15, 200322 yr comment_23342 Dan, you need to read his description more carefully...The Buy It Now price of 169 is for a complete set of three carbs...In which case that is a hell of a deal anyway you look at it...:classic: Guess we will have to watch his auctions a little more carefully huh?I agree, they are only good if you have done mods to the engine, but at that price, you will save enough for a new cam etc.....:devious: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4275-dellorto-or-solex-vs-su-type/#findComment-23342 Share on other sites
January 15, 200322 yr comment_23376 I e-mailed this guy, the bigest venturi he has is 31mm. I think you may want a bit bigger then that? Possible 36mm? If anybody is running these please correct me. I was thinking of them pretty seriously, My 2.4 with a mild cam, fresh springs and a mild port job, might be a sweet set-up. Then I started looking into a cam, fresh lashcaps etc. and your in for $500, then the carbs, intake, linkege, air horns filters, fuel rail I'm smelling 1k already. Think I'll keep it stock for awile! Besides one hot rod is enough, I think! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/4275-dellorto-or-solex-vs-su-type/#findComment-23376 Share on other sites
January 16, 200322 yr comment_23416 I bought my Dellortos form this guy as well and I was very pleased with what I got. He cleans them and packs them very well and sends them promptly. The only thing is that they came off a random car so the throttle linkage needed to be changed out.
