Tail Light Gasket Question

Featured Replies

The first go round the gaskets were installed dry, there was plenty of compression, everything looked good. After it was together was when everyone said it should have some type of 'sealant', to prevent fumes. I had fumes. I looked at the old gaskets and there was residue of glue on them. They got glued on this time. (the fumes were from leaks in the entire exhaust system, since replaced).

Wick says seal it.

Who, what is wick? (pardon my ignorance)

Now that I think back to doing work on my car I do remember pealing the old gaskets off. My car had been repainted but it was a crappy Macco job so they had just masked off the tail light finisher.
