Odd Noise From Transmission

Featured Replies

Sounds like your countershaft bearing is on its way out.

Could be a bent clutch fork draging in thr T/O bearing

the car wil even make the noise out of gear at 2800 it sounds like its coming from almost behind the climate control

Any problems with the starter? I'm wondering if something's loose, worn, vibrating, etc.... since we can't exactly tell what the sound is like, it's hard to ponder....

Loose heat shield? If it happens at a specific rpm, I'm thinking of something that vibrates and is hitting a resonance frequency... if it were a constant but variable noise, I'd wonder about bearings, springs, etc...

Thanks for all of your suggestions and help. over the next couple weeks illl be trying to find and replace the culprit

Speedo gear pinion drive? Small enough to have a high-pitched sound & turns with the driveline; it's in the tunnel area. May have worn gear teeth, or a distinct wear pattern to make it whine only at certain RPM. I've seen ones that have become fused or tight to turn. Is the speedometer functioning normally?
