I took the engine out of the car. most of the bolts broke loose and i was able to use my fingers to remove them. everythings going great so far. am i just lucky ? i did break off one bolt on the exhaust manifold, though. my fault , i think. whats' a good way to get it out ? 71 Z. thanks, timsz

depends on the broken stud. Is it in the head? Are you able to grab it with a pair of Vice grips, drill it out and back it out, soak it with some Break away fluid?

A Picture is worth a few hundred or a few select words. If it's inside the head and unreachable, a machine shop may be a better choice.

Pics would help, Tim. If you're a good welder, PM me for a simple solution.

Get a left hand drill bit and after a good soak with PBblaster, it will probably come out as you drill it-harbor freight has left handed bits cheap if you have a hard time finding them.

Funny you should mention those, Will. I just replaced my old set Saturday beause I had broken a couple of the smaller ones. The 13 piece set was only $7.99.

thank you very much for replies. the broken bolt can't be grabbed. I will try left- hand drill bit. It's going to have to wait a few days, though. I guess it was going too easy. I hurt my back. I'm anxious to get back working on engine.
