re-skinned door panels

Like a lot of restoration parts for the early Z's, the new door panel skins are on the pricey side. But, they are a cheaper option than replacement door panels. And in the scheme of things, the price really isn't too bad.

I did buy a pair of replacement door panels from MSA about 7 years ago, the price then was about $155 each...wish I'd bought more, but I didn't know I would have more Z projects back then!

Hey Kenny! Panels look great!

FYI- I have several sets of panels including a set of fiberglass ones. not sure what years they are from though. Let me know if you need any more and we can take a look at the ones I have.

I am just going to take the panels from my doors to the shop and have them re-upholstered.

I recently purchased some new door panel skins from DatsunParts.com (http://www.datsunparts.com/2334). I had a local interior shop repair the old door panels and install the new skins. They turned out real nice!

Question - Does anyone know how reattach the 'window fuzzies'? Nissan used staples in the stainless channel originally. My new 'fuzzies' do not have the staples or other obvious way to install.

I have looked at this post: http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38530&highlight=Door+Panel+Fuzzies

I just would like to know what else other people have tried in this situation...

The upholsterer used rivets to attach new fuzzy strips to the re-skinned door panels. Here's a shot of the drivers side panel on the door, plus several of the rivets. Not sure if they were counter sunk or not, but they are definitely somewhat recessed and do not make contact with the glass. They are not that noticeable unless you get up real close for a look.

Thanks for the pictures! I am still very concerned that I might scratch my glass. I am looking for different types of rivets that might have a lower profile.

I am also considering just gluing them in place with some heavy duty adhesive (e.g. Contact Cement, JB Weld).
