It sounds like air in the system. One little air bubble allows for gas compression making the system not work well. Sometimes if you get air in the master, it gets sometimes tricky to get out. If you can get someone to compress the clutch and blead the clutch that way you may dislodge the air bubble.

The other thing you replaced the slave did you replace the master, maybe it needs new seals?

Have you installed the proper bearing collar for the pressure plate that you installed? Example: 240Z pressure plate requires 240Z collar.......280Z pessure plate requires 280Z collar etc. I'm not sure what the difference is in slave cylinders, but they should be matched......240Z pressure plate,collar and slave cylinder etc. etc.
