L-28 F-54 NA or Turbo. What head are you running? Is it milled ? I looked out of the window tonight and could not see clearly what you have.

Sorry I couldn't help it , the devil made me do it !

The last post is a good start but there are too many unanswered questions to comment on flat top v. dish, like is this a normally aspirated engine? Are you running an aftermarket cam, if so what kind of lift, duration, overlap? What about lash caps? The only parts advice I could offer, given the limited information, is that I found a good deal on play-dough (is that the spelling?) at Walmart. Trust me, you will need it if you build a serious engine.

i did some research and im using the stock crank. i have the n47 head. is there any valve clearence issues with flat top pistons with this head? also is this a good head to work with?

If I recall correctly, broken ring lands are often caused by excessive pinging or pre-ignition.
