Poly mustache bar bushings

Drill, hammer, burn out the rubber insert and inner metal tube. The outer steel shell is what is left behind (besides the actual mustache bar). The poly inserts go into those outer shells. Replacing the bushings with originsl pieces would require removal of those outer shells too.

Only remove the rubber. There is no steel insert in the mustache bar, unless you're talking about the steel tube that the bolt goes thru. I drilled and burnt out the rubber, cleaned the remainder with acetone then POR15'd the full mustache bar and the round end peices in the mustach bar.

So the original bushings have the metal 'shell' around the outside of the rubber. They are then pressed in. Apparently, the shells don't come out easily, so it is easier to reuse them. Probably not a good idea to be too rough on the inner surface.

Thanks, Mike

There is a metal sleeve in the mustache bar. On a stock rubber bushing, the sleeve is hammered down to fit over the mustache bar. The eurathane bushings for the mustache bar are made so you can keep the sleeve.

Exactly. No metal cutting required. Just remove the metal tube (suspended by rubber) then remove the rubber. The Poly bushing will slide into the metal sleeve that ir "Mushroomed" to the Mustache bar.
