Ignition Coil missing

Interesting. 240Zs had point ignition and 260/280Zs had electronic ignition. Two different coils.

What are the issues in upgrading a 240 to electronic ignition?

It will work with your car. It doesn't have the proper appearance though. It is not a high output coil so you don't need to worry about burning up points too quickly. An AC Delco p/n U510 is also correct for this application and physically looks like the original.

Another option is the dizzy from a 280ZX, preferably with a e12-80 ignition module. If you go with a ZX dizzy you will want to use the ZX coil, too. Do a search and you should be able to find the information you need to do this swap.

Can't speak for the US but Euro 260's had point ignition and as this one has a ballast resistor I suspect it is also point ignition.
