Future for the 240z

Featured Replies

I'm about to get my hands on a 240 rolling body. Now, as a hot rodder the first thought is v8 (Dad is building a 1956 studebaker w/ chevy bb. Been doin hot rods all my life (17yrs old).) Word on the street is that there used to be a smaller v8, made with aluminum. But I'm still trying to plan this out. What are your guys's opinions on what the fate of this car should be?

You mean the old Buick 215? Lightweight, yes, but as I recall they wre short on power. I think Oldsmobile and Pontiac also used a version of that engine. I think the British company, Rover, eventually bought the design from GM and continued to produce their version of that engine until the MG/Rover Group split up a couple of years ago. I haven't heard of anyone using that engine for a swap for years, at least in the US. Might work out okay in a Z since, as I recall, the engine only weighed a shade over 300 lbs. I don't really know too much else about them, however.

Speaking of the Buick 215 V8, if you want to look at something toatlly insane, check this!

Nissan have an aluminum V8 that would fit. Yes, Hyridz is a good place for you to visit.

Austin, There's a few people in G'ville with first gen Z's that can give you advice with your project.

Thanks for that vid Stephen! Just goes to show that no matter where you live, you don't have to go far to find rednecks living the american dream. V8 chainsaws? HELL YEAH! Go Rednecks!
