blueturbo Posted October 13, 2007 Share #1 Posted October 13, 2007 Hi i'm about to start bit of a resto (suspenion, wiring.ect) on my buddies 74 260 and we are not sure if we should do a performance build or stock as the vin#is quite low rls30-000023.Any info on this vin would be helpfull thanks. Exdamyankee Posted October 14, 2007 Share #2 Posted October 14, 2007 I doubt the number means much on a '74, but I could be mistaken. It's obviously one of the first '74s built, but again, it's not like it's a 1969 240. I say build it the way you want to drive it.

Zak's Z Posted May 21, 2008 Share #4 Posted May 21, 2008 This hijacking doesnt even make sense. I'd almost prefer to see an ad for grey market cellphones or electronics. Blueturbo talking about his restoration then BAM - An essay on China. WTF?

He left about six or so of this type of post this morning. Just ignore him.
jtl260z Posted May 21, 2008 Share #6 Posted May 21, 2008 Unfortunately there is nothing special about an early 260 (except for the fact that all S30's are special). I'm kind of glad for that since I can't leave anything stock and my Z is far from it.
Big sam Posted August 17, 2008 Share #7 Posted August 17, 2008 A "sympathetic" resto would be nice...I have RS30 vin#000037 maybe built on the same day?
Carl Beck Posted August 17, 2008 Share #8 Posted August 17, 2008 All other things being held even - an interesting VIN will sell first, and perhaps for a bit more money.FYI - RLS30 00020 was the OMS Pace Car that Bobby Unser won... its still in the Unser Garage..FWIW,Carl B. fixitman Posted August 17, 2008 Share #9 Posted August 17, 2008 You might consider something in between a performance build and stock. Let's call it a period correct restoration. During the production years, many factory and aftermarket parts were available to personalize and improve the handling and performance of any 240Z to 280Z. A quality period correct restoration may give your friend the best of both approaches and a higher value car.Good luck with the project.Fixitman
