Hide-A-Key

Featured Replies

Funny story, I was removing a lot of the stuff on the exterior of my car to get it ready for a paint job and while removing the rear bumper I noticed there was a Hide-a-Key stuck on the inside. Much to my delight I opened it up to reveal one of the original keys.

So, I guess in your case it is a Find-A-Key.

Congratulations on your little surprise.

Congrats on finding the key! It's fun finding stuff in cars. All I found in my Z was a cast iron chicken & a Chuck E Cheese token.:disappoin

I kinda like the chicken.

That's awesome! I'd be thrilled to find that.

I think the coolest thing that I found in my car left by the previous owners was the original shift knob hiding under the seat.

Nice find and funny that it worked in my car.

Maybe someone knows how many different codes there were for S30 keys in 1973?

I bet there weren't more than 30 different ones.

The other possibility is that as our locks wear out other keys may start working.

Can you guys pull your keys out of the ignition while the car is running?

I used to be able to; I thought it was a nice feature compared to new cars. Now that I've got a new lock set and keys for the car I can't do that anymore.

wth is a cast iron chicken? like a figurine?

when i first read it, i thought it was like in the shape of a cooked chicken, but made of cast iron. now THAT would be some tough meat....

Not on my 78 280 or the 810. Only on the old truck.
