August 26, 200717 yr comment_219814 I had one years ago from MSA that would suck into the fan too. I wound up strapping it to the support infront of the radiator to keep it from getting pulled back. Mine was a bit warped when I got it so I thought that was the cause. My '73 has one of those that the PO put on, and there is a spring that holds it tight going from the top of the shroud to the filler collar - so must be a common issue :classic: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25320-install-of-new-msa-radiator-shroud/?&page=2#findComment-219814 Share on other sites
August 27, 200717 yr comment_219868 The one I have shown in the pictures is metal, so I'm not expecting any major amount of flex. The point about flexing is a good one, although, and I'm glad it was offered... I was thinking about a non-metal one for another Z that should have one.... What year Z are you looking for a shroud for? I have an extra plastic two-piece shroud that looks just like the one in your pictures; should fit a 260 up to a '76 280 (I was sold this one for my '77, then found out it was incorrect when the mounting holes didn't match up). August 27, 200717 yr comment_219932 Alex, Where have you been hiding ..... didn't see you at Feb club event at park? I installed the MSA one-piece, fiberglass radiator shroud in 2003. Is your plastic or fiberglass? I did have trouble with the fit and rigidity and made some adjustments: 1) I installed the thin piece on the outboard side of the top hand guard and then bolted it in place at two locations to keep it from flexing. 2) Did drill holes in the mount tabs to align with 4 holes on radiator. 3) Added 1"x1" aluminum right-angle piece, from mount hole to mount hole, to both left and right sides to provide some added stiffness Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/25320-install-of-new-msa-radiator-shroud/?&page=2#findComment-219932 Share on other sites
