I have a 1972 240z Vin 94138 with no door jamb build plate. Apparently some parts are different for cars manufactured before and after certain dates.

I would appreciate any help.

Carl Beck can probably guess the production date fairly close. In the mean time, comparing your number with the numbers on the 240Z register, I figure it as probably being built in 7/72.

Arne is correct - VIN's between HLS30 91591 and 95904 were all built 07/72. Your original engine serial number - from the Data Plate under the hood - should be between L24-113xxx and L24-120xxx.

Thanks a lot for the Vin information on my 1972 Z.

Is the wording and layout of the door jamb VIN plate the same for all S30's? I realize the stamped info will be different as well as the year of manufacture, but is the rest of the plate the same from year to year? Anyone have any good pics? Thanks in advance.
