This is weird

Two issues with my 72 L24 240Z folks:

1. Just today while driving my Z, I noticed that the turn signals wouldn't come on until I released the brake. And when I started it today, there was this terrible warning buzzer eminating from the center of my dash. Is this a sign that my alternator is going out? My amp gauge has been dancing a bit.

2. The last few times I went for a drive of any length, when the car went to idle it would slowly just die like I ran out of gas. Checked the lines, and I have a new fuel filter. Fuel pump? What gets me though is that it runs fine for about 15-20 minutes then it starts this crap.

Any advice would be appreciated. :stupid:

Well whats the test results on the alternator and Battery? sounds to me thats part of the cause?

Battery is fine. Alty is where I was going as soon as I get home from my business trip. I'm hoping that is all that it is. I still want to know what the hell that warning buzzer was.

Definitely an alternator issue mate (or regulator). The "warning buzzer" sound is relay chatter. It happens when you have a flat battery and the relay can't stay closed.

Thanks Murph! Scared the hell out of me! I thought my daughter put some horrible CD in the deck and cranked it! Have any of you done the conversion to the 280 alty and how did it go? I can get a reman for $30 locally with a 1 year warranty on it. Think I'm just gonna do that and order the splice piece later if it is as good as promoted.

The conversion is easy, especially if you get the adapter (splice piece) that someone on here is selling for it. If you don't order the adapter, you're going to have to jumper wires yourself.

You'll want to check first if the alternators is actaully buggered, or if it's just the regulator. I've had similar problems with my zed car and it was just the regulator.
