I have a 1974 260z fuel inj. automatic that I am just not getting to fire at the Dist. I get just no spark, can someone please advise.I would like to know what to check?thanks

are u gettin spark from the ignition coil? and also check ur points ( i dont know what year they swapped over to the sold state ignition or w.e. it is but if u have points then they may be corroded.) also check the rotor to make sure its not pitted or burnt and if theres corrosion clean it out (not with a wire brush). If i were you i would just run through the distributor, clean it all of corosion and if ur still not gettin spark dig deeper into it.

You might run a diagnostic on the inhibitor switch. It's on the right side of the trans behind the shift lever. It acts as a neutral safety switch so that the car can not be started in gear.

Are you certain of the year? Was your car converted to fuel injection? I only ask because fuel injection began in 75 with the 280Z.

Well I say '74 only because if I look up part at most on line Auto part store, the 260z only comes up as that year'74.It is and early '75.

Like I stated before I get no spark from the coil. The car was running awhile back but it has been sitting for about a year!I have cleaned and check all the conection to the starter, fuse box and have looked into the distributor and all looks well.I am most interested in knowning how to check power to the coil and the pick-up with a 12v light tester. Also could the relay hvae gone bad, when the key is turned I can hear a click.

I have read about this switch from what I understand it only permits the start to engage if it is working. My car turns over but no spark!

Like was stated before , what are you running ? Are you in the US ? Are you confusing the year built with the actual year of the car ? Injection in the USA started in '75 , with the 280 . One thing though , my engine would not fire if the tach was not connected . I have a ZX ignition but the stock 240s wouldent either . GARY
