Posted August 6, 200519 yr comment_133224 I have spoken with a few early 240 owners lately, and we all are wondering if anyone makes an aftermarket duct. This is the plastic, accordian-like thing that attaches to the radiator support and directs air into the fender and on into the interior. They all seem to be cracked or broken or missing. I am sure they are NLA from the dealer. Anybody know a source for these things? August 6, 200519 yr comment_133225 I see them on eBay occasionally. I got a used pair a while back myself. I've never seen aftermarket; it doesn't seem like the demand would be high enough to justify the manufacturing cost. August 7, 200519 yr comment_133246 Did the 280Z have those? I can't tell where the fresh air gets in. I'm not getting much fresh air coming through down by my feet. Or could there be blockage in there that I could fish out?thx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16806-fresh-air-ducts/#findComment-133246 Share on other sites
August 7, 200519 yr comment_133251 Did the 280Z have those? I can't tell where the fresh air gets in.Yes; it's the black plastic elbow shaped duct with an accordion in the middle that's installed on either side of the car up near the radiator. The pull knobs under each end of the dash open a baffle that lets this air come in.http://www.classiczcars.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=8109 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16806-fresh-air-ducts/#findComment-133251 Share on other sites
August 7, 200519 yr comment_133252 TomoHawk, take a look at this scan. It's from the 1978 280Z owners manual. Particularly item #32 labled 'floor vent control'. My car doesn't have and appears to never have had one. Does yours? August 7, 200519 yr comment_133253 it's the black plastic elbow shaped duct with an accordion in the middle that's installed on either side of the car up near the radiator. Nope. None present.. Nor are there any holes in those places where the tubes would conect. the air must get in some other way on a 280Z.thx Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16806-fresh-air-ducts/#findComment-133253 Share on other sites

Does yours?Mine would be where #34 is to the right of the hood pull, and one in the same place of the other side. August 7, 200519 yr comment_133257 Look again. I have those, 34 & 17, they control the side vents. I'm talking about 32. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16806-fresh-air-ducts/#findComment-133257 Share on other sites
August 7, 200519 yr comment_133259 I have those, 34 & 17, they control the side vents. I'm talking about 32> No, #32 I don't have either. Nothing under there but some wires & the steering column. The attached pics are from my car. The first one are the hood pull & vent pull knobs, the second one is the corner near the radiator Mike was referring to. Sorry, camera doesn't focus well in the dark. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/16806-fresh-air-ducts/#findComment-133259 Share on other sites
