Re; 2 piece wheels

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

What is the difference between 2 piece and 3 piece wheels. I know with the 3 piece wheel you can exchange the two shells (inner/outer) to get different widths. Can a 2 piece wheels have its shells interchange for different widths also?

Regards, Ari

i'm not sure, but maybe you could reverse the offest? just a guess.....

A two piece rim has a removable center on a static rim width that would allow you to install a different lug pattern center or change the offset of the wheel by changing the offset of the center section that is installed onto that wheel.

A three piece is as described above, allowing you to change the width of the rim as well as the center section.

Thanks Ron. Also, I found out they are welded together. Here is a link demonstrating the processe. http://www.enkei.com/Wheel%20Processes.html
