Featured Replies

Ok....gonna try to attach a pic. Does anyone recognize this brand of rim? Yeah...I know they are dirty and need work. Just curious of the make. Thanks.

DatsunZGuy........I think you are on the money. Thanks for the info guys.

Best bet is to clean the rims and look for markings cast or stamped into the wheel. Back in the day, most of the wheel manufacturers copied each other endlessly. Very difficult to accuarately identify a wheel from a picture.

All appliance wheels have the letter A cast in the back side. I just sold a set.

This may be a duplicate reply, last one seemed to fail.

Anyway, cleaned some crud from the back of the rim, and have found this

info so far.

Japan 947-1 14x7 46 8

On the surface, that would seem to eliminate "Appliance" or "Western" as the manufacturer. (pun intended)

The site below implies that some Appliance wheels were made in Japan. Nice site...by the way.

That's news to me :)

http://www.roadsters.com/wheels/

"Appliance wheels were popular in the Seventies. Their five-spoked wheels can be identified by the word "Japan" stamped on the inside, and also by their large, recessed holes for the lug nut washers to seat in. As long as you don't mind the deep holes for the lug nut washers, Appliance five-spoked wheels are considered to be good-quality Torq-Thrust copies."
