Hey turbo240!,

Thanks for the info on the big rim...not so big tyre thing in Japan. I had assumed it was just a fashion craze of sorts from the Japanese car culture of the '80's! ROFL . Interesting it actually has a purpose.

Jim.

P.S. what was the name of the black ship Zaphod stole???

as i recall they never mention the name of the black ship, they just refer to it as "the black ship" hotblack desiato & disaster area's stuntship.

i cant freakin wait for the movie to come out.

is that the one you were talking about?

is that the one you were talking about?

That's the one!! Paint job sounded like it wasn't done with rattlecans though :P No wonder I couldn't remember the name....it didn't have one :stupid:

I wasn't aware of the impending movie. Did you see the BBC series?

for one. my 280 is flat black also. & 2 the style of stretching narrow tires over wide rims is called hipari. it eases the transition from grip to slip while drifting & makes for a little fender clearance in a pinch.

also, if i get door dinged in the z i dont have to pay out the arse to get the area painted/color matched & dead roman was right, Nothing is meaner than a flat black z.

1) Interesting choice of color for RENO. Bet you just love hopping in wearing shorts. Then again, if you have A/C then your mileage must be like....nothing. As far as repairs, you're right, they'd be cheap, but why waste the money? No one would really look twice.

Hope you didn't spray Flat Black over Primer....ah, but you're in Reno, so no rain.

As far as the Hipari, don't you need special tires? It would seem to me that you would have to seriously over-inflate the tires to overcome the cupping in the center of the tread from spreading the sidewalls out.

1¢ (not worth the full 2)

Enrique

ya, it gets a little hot i'll admit but its not too bad.

while running hipari most people up the tire pressure to around 40psi to avoid cupping, but most people that stretch tires do so for drifting so the tire isn't going to be around for very long.
