I am replacing my old injectors and thought about replacing the holders and retainer plates. All the replacement holders look like they are made of plastic, my holders are aluminum. Is there a reason why they were changed to plastic ? should i just clean up my holders if they are not damaged and reuse them ?

75 280Z which when it starts idles low, about 550, once warmed up idle goes to about 1050. I've checked the vacuum and its OK, adjusting the idle when cold to 800 gives a warm idle of about 1250. TB has been cleaned up, thermotine switch changed. I'm a little stumped. Any help will be appreciated.

I have a 75z with a 3.0 piston kit and a bigger cam. I cant get it tuned, it floods during cold starts. I've seen a few post about after market EFI's but I don't know what to look for. Where do I go to get one? what do I get? Thanks ~Rosco~

Im going to be purchasing a really nice 280z from a man who owns a car shop no less. The concerns I have are: I test drove it not to long ago when it was warm, maybe 50-60 Deg. and as I recall it ran fine, just had a Low idle of about 900 and I waited for it to warm up to see where it would settle at with not much of a change. I test drove it again recently in cold weather, 30-40 Deg. and it had some trouble starting at first and idled even worse maybe 500. Also smelled really bad like gas. Now I understand that cold starting causes gas that is in the engine to seep down into the pan with the oil and that the car isnt burnning completely due to the cold. But, the oil I lo…

Made up a generic "How To" on doing a fuel tank removal. Should be generic enough to fit just about all model years with minor differences. webdawg1 Fuel Tank Removal.doc

Is there a device that I can buy to tell me if my 78 Z car is running rich or lean? I see people always talking about that. And I dont mind spending the money on a meter/device that I can hook up, stick in the tailpipe, etc to tell me whats going on. Then I will have good data to post out here too as I work through the myriad of issues to get the car back to specs as closely as possible. THANKS!!!

I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this question, but here goes. My z has a very smelly exhaust. i have read all the forums about the exhaust smells. It does not have exhaust leaks The car has been totaly rebuilt right down to bare steel new seals gaskets etc. I get the smell in the car with the windows down at slow speeds and at a stop light, I understand the aero issues. I have a fairly warmed up 2.8 with round tops. I have tuned the carbs to what i consider a good tune. My question is do the early injection cars have the traditional smell or is it just the carb cars that have the smell. It smells when you stand next to the car as well when you drive it? I r…

Wrapping the rail 1 2 3

Hey guys For a number of years I've noticed that many people wrap their fuel rails in heat insulation type material. Two questions. 1. Does this help in any way? 2. I found this the other day and thought it might be interesting. I only ask as well the fuel rail gets rather hot after a nice long drive (to the touch that is) and to me insulating it wouldn't be a bad idea. Jan

So I was pretty much just wondering if any body has tried one of these yet they come up from time to time on ebay and I gotta say i really like the way they clean up the manifold area ( they are custom fuel rails that fit the L-28, And if you have one was it relatively simple/ easy install(I don't really mind if its a pain in the arse either as long as i dont have to go and buy two hundred more dollars worth of parts just to hook it up, you know what I Mean? I think looks pretty srtraight forward but who knows these days. And are you happy with the performance of the part and if so how much power does your engine have. I'm thinking of stroking out my motor so it needs…

I am trying to identify what appears to be a missing component. I have been searching previous threads/posts and every photo, even the FSM. I have spent a great deal of time over the last two months reading everything to learn as much as I could to resolve several vacuum related issues (heater, mostly) and have been succesful thus far. I thank everyone who has contributed so much info- links, articles and documentation. I am willing to admit I may be overlooking something but I'm asking for assistance. There is a connecter (not connected) and what appears to be a block-off plate (diamond shaped) located on the intake. I am assuming that the connector would be related …

I'm new to the forum thing but I'll get it eventually sorry for my improper etiquette. here's what I have, what I have in it and the problem I'm having. 75z, 3.0 pistons, bigger cam, 240sx turbo injectors, 240sx turbo mass air flow meter with the guts out of my stock air flow, 240sx turbo throttle body, the intake has been honed (board out), header, 2 1/4 exhaust, 80 something zx turbo fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator on the rail. I have the stock ecu and harness. I adjusted the fp to 35 psi and it flooded on cold starts but if you could keep it running at the red lights it would run good wide open. The 02 was reading 1.00-1.50v so I adjusted the tension on …

Here is what happened tonight on my 1978 z car Well I finally got around to hooking up my new actron fuel pressure guage. For better or wrose, I put it after the fuel filter. It was easier to put it there for my first time doing this. Here it is http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16173 And here is what happened. My wife turned on ignition but not start it. Immediately it shot up to like 40 psi and stayed there. She turned it off. It stayed at 40. Turned it back on again w/o starting it, and it stayed around 40 Then she started it...and at idle it stayed around 40. I dont know how accurate this fuel pressure guage is though. That seems way too high. Is it possib…
