Garage Design
Chris, is your garage 30' wide or 30' long? ie do you have more space at the sides of the cars or at the end? Agree about power points, can't have too many. The garage will be brick and I'm thinking I-beams for the ceiling support. Also like the idea of natural light through the roof.

You are correct on the heating (it was 41C last sunday...hotter in my current garage:cry: ) Insulation may be a good idea though. What is "plate-height"?

Garage Design
We're planning and extensive renovation to our home which will include a new garage. I am interested in hearing what sort of layout other people have at their homes and what the good/bad features are. For reference, I plan to have a double garage 7m wide by 6.5m deep. The garage will have access from a wide laneway at the back of our property and will not be connected to the house. I plan to have a double-width auto tilting door to get the cars in/out as well as a pair of double doors in the side to allow access onto the yard via the garage, and another single (human-sized!) door for easy access to the house. The floor will be concrete (painted), the roof pitched to allow for potential storage (and be in keeping with the neighborhood). I plan to have a workbench at the end with light overhead shelving and heavier steel rack shelving along one side wall (side without double doors). Most new garages I've seen are around 6 paces (approx 6m) wide and long. I'm hoping that by going to 7x6.5 I'll have enough space for easy access around our two cars plus room for the shelving and benches mentioned. Coments?

$10.000 is not enough
Humpf! I would regard the '73 as the most highly developed of the 240z series...

tan interior pics?
Very nice! I might wait for the $AU to get over 80 US cents first. Looks like there is a lot of replacement parts available from that supplier.

tan interior pics?
Thanks Gareth, thats a good tip. My Vinyl has no tears but is discoloured where exposed to the sun - worst of all on the rear suspension towers. How did you prepare your vinyl for painting? I'm thinking a warm soapy scrup with a soft brush to remove grease followed by a rinse with clean water and then a thorough drying..?

tan interior pics?
I'm sure that I have buckley's of finding a parts book. I'm hoping that good photos will be enough...and that commonsnse on the part of the trimmer will help too. Incedentally, here's what my drivers seat looks like now (you can see that it must have been recovered at least once in its life already): ..also note the lovely rivets holding the centre console together!

Magazine issue on the 240z
It is Pitstop and they have a stack of shiny new magazines there...only problem is that they are all spoken for and no more are coming in We'll just have to keep an eye out in the 'normal' newsagents...

tan interior pics?
Does anyone out there have pictures of an original 240Z with a tan interior? I'd like this to help me when recovering the seats of my '73 model. I think I remember one of the original 240Z sales brochures having a car with a tan interior..?

Northbridge tunnel cameras
Thanks for the reassurance Lee. I had just picked my brother up from the E.Perth bus terminal and it was the first time he'd seen the car. I gave it full throttle in 3rd and the induction roar and acceleration were fantastic. Remember this is 'only' an L24 (albeit with an E31 head) and stock exhaust.... might have to hasten the demise of my rear muffler...:devious:

Northbridge tunnel cameras
To the Perth members... Can anyone confirm if there are currently permanent speed cameras in the Northbridge tunnel? I know that there was considerable debate in the press on this subject a few months back as there have been no accidents involving death or injury in the tunnel (so why the need for these 'safety devices'?) My reason for asking is that I had an attack of the loud pedal through there on Sunday night (boy does the Z go!) and now I'm wondering if it is going to cost me?

Hands up who's in Perth (or Australia...)
Hi Daniel and welcome. Your car looks familiar to me...did you buy it from a guy in Mt. Hawthorn? If its the one I think it is then he had some rust removed and repainted by Stokes and Renk in Subiaco. I have heard from a couple of other sources that they are sympathetic to older cars. We've also had our family car repaired by them and were impressed with the qulity of the job. Do you live around the Subi area? Looks like you car was photographed in the Centro streets! I'm in Daglish, maybe we could catch up and compare notes. Hayden.
