  1. Thanks to the both of you. I am staring at both right now and differences do seem really slight - if at all..... -e
  2. Goo dmorning all, I am getting rid of my salvaged parts car. It's free to whomever wants it. I've removed dash, OEM seats (but replaced those with old Recaros), E88 cylinder head and round top SUs..... There still is a header on there but it looks to be rusted onto exhaust so it's being difficult to remove. Anyways car was originally yellow/greenish color and was thoroughly resprayed to red (you can only tell in wheelwells the original color of the car). It has little to no interior trim. The previous owner told me it was salvaged when it was hit in pass rear 3/4 - except for cracking bondo around the filler cap I have yet to see how bad the damage is if at all. I drove up until a week ago when I pulled the carbs. If you are interested I need to know ASAP (like today). Car is in Pasadena, CA. -e email or call me at 626 568 1076
  3. I was surfing some fellow 240Z owner's rides on the net, and found a couple that mentionned explicitly that they were using N36 manifolds with their original SUs. What's the big deal? Do these flow better? Thanks and Good Morning too BTW, -e
  4. Awesome Royce.. That's exactly what I was after. Much appreciated. -e
  5. Yeah Royce, That would be great... chances are it's just a relatively well tuned L24 compared to mine which I know must have either bad valve seat on #3 or bad rings there.... but you never know this salvaged car had money spent on it once in the past seeing the goodies I have found on it so far. -e
  6. The salvaged car I am taking parts from felt relatively quick when I last drove it and i wonder if the camshaft in there is OEM or aftermarket. I come from the Honda world originally (oh the shock and the horror!!) and there at least there does exist a series of casting marks on the camshafts to help ID them. Did Nissan or the aftermarket companies do the same for our 240z's? Is there anything I can look for short of putting next to another cam to figure out what it is? Thanks again. -e
  7. I read SWM's article regarding the cylinder head removal and I do own a 10mm allen wrench socket but it seemed to fit a bit loose in all the head bolts I tried... Granted there was still a bit of oil left inside them as I hadn't completely cleaned them out yet.... but it did make me wonder if the next size up wouldn't be better suited.... of course i found no 11mm allen wrench socket at the local hardware store.... now my head bolts don't look like they are stripped or "opened up" too much... has anyone else experienced this? Thanks, -e
  8. Thanks Pete... I am back off to the carport, tools in hand. -e
  9. I just spent all day pulling off 72 SUs & E88 cylinder head off my parts car, then doing water pump+fan belt+spark plugs+condenser+cap+rotor on my car.Now after all this I realize I forgot to mark my distributor cap with the numbers of the spark plug wires.... I know the firing order from the Haynes manual, but nowhere do I see any indication as to which post corresponds to #1 cylinder. Can someone help me please? THanks. -e

Is there anyone here located in Aus/NZ, or Europe, or even Japan that might have access to a km/h speedo for a '73 240? Thanks, -e
  11. That isn't so important to me... The two backs I salvaged from the yard were the later kind with the lever as you've described it. Do you have either? -e

Krys... What do you figure shipping is going to cost? Do you have an idea approximately? And just to be sure the black vinyl fabric you used to restore the seats is it similar to OEM or is it OEM exactly? Thanks. -e
  13. Both sides, in good condition of course - especially seat bottoms, as I have already rescued two good condition black vinyl seat backs from the junkyard. If I can find these OEM seats then I will have two old Recaros to give away to whomever wants... they are black velour, have adjustable thigh support on driver side, look like the old LX models if you remember that far back, and yes the black velour fabric is torn in places but the foam is intact... Comfortable enough - just not the OEM look that I am after. Thanks. -e

Looking for 240Z black OEM seats. Will be happy to just take seat bottoms for each side or complete seats for both sides - your call.... Let me know please. Thank you. -e
  15. Pete, I need stock black vinyl seats... Specifically just the seat bottoms if possible as I've rescued two black seat vinyls from the junkyard which are in perfect condition. If you don't want to separate that's fine too, I'll take them complete. FYI if anyone's interested I'll have some old Recaros to donate to some one as soon as I can find some good OEM seats (they look like old Recaro LXs if you are familiar with that model and have adjustable thigh support on driver side (black velour fabric with Recaro badge in the middle of the back)) -e
