@Captain Obvious Check out the engine electrical section of the L24 engine FSM for info on the distributor condenser, page EE-28, 29, 30. There is a circuit diagram and other info.
  2. Yes it is. 918 Orange is the new Black. Lol

Hey CO, #6521 did originally have a condenser in all four locations listed above. Funny that two of your four pics above are of my car. The pic above with no condenser on the alternator, was from about 10 years ago when I pulled it to do some engine detailing. Prior to the detailing it did have a condenser there, but it was not connected. At the time I just left if off when I re-assembled alternator. Here's a before & after pic. Mystery solved, Lol.
  4. Went to Cars & Coffee in Steveston BC this morning, and met up with about a dozen members of the local Zed club I belong to. It was110 km from my house, so it was a great drive too. After the cars & coffee we did a scenic group drive for breakfast to a local Pub for the $5.99 special. Lol. Sadly this the last weekend they will be open, as they are closing after 130 years of service. Sometimes "progress" sucks, the Buck & Ear will be missed. On the way home I also stopped at my favorite, close to me, craft brewery. For some reason I was attracted to this six pack? I think this Dutch Pale Ale is my new go to beer. Lol. And it tastes good too.
  5. Too funny. That's what I get for buying someone else's project. BTW, I've been called worse than stickler. Lol.
  6. I was under my 1'70 car this morning, took this pic to show an installed early slave cylinder, with the external spring and adjustable actuator rod.
  7. Hey,@Parman I was wrong about the symbol being for YEC brand. I had a look at my pats stash and found that is actually for Daiichi Mfg Co Ltd.. Here are a few pics of some more ignition parts with the same symbol. Also shown are an OE Hitachi contact point set and condenser, you can see the Hitachi logo on those.
  8. I think that might be a YEC brand rotor. OE ones are Hitachi, they have a different logo.
  9. Hey, no offence taken. You are totally right about AI, you have to read the results carefully and still take what is presented with a grain of salt.
  10. Very cool. 😎
  11. For best life and to minimize vibration, drivelines should operate at a slight angle, and not be perfectly inline. The small angle is to ensure that all of the needle bearings will see load and rotate. When I design drivelines for industrial applications I use about 2 degrees of parallel misalignment. That said the likelihood of an automotive driveline being perfectly aligned is probably zero.
  12. Yesterday I gave #957 an overdue wash/detail, top and bottom. I've had six months of ownership, and been caught in the rain a few times during the 700 miles I have put on her so far.
  13. Just sent you a PM back, Haven't done mine yet. Hopefully there will be some nice warm weather in May.
  14. Is this what you're looking for? Here's a couple more pics
  15. Hi Dave, I totally get that about the repairs. Here are a few pics.
  16. I've got one that is in fair shape, It is FRP. It does have a few cracks and one of the studs is broken off half way down, but definitely still useable with a bit of repair work. Let me know if you would like some pics. I'm in BC.
  17. Two more days left, It's up to 40K, currently. Reserve not yet met. https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1972-datsun-240z-little-compton-ri-469398
  18. Nice small bumper 260Z on the BaT block. Two days to go, and a developing possible flipping story might make it interesting. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1974-datsun-260z-106/
  19. Makes sense. I have not had a problem reaching that extra distance from my left seat. 😄
  20. You should be able to easily locate the larger hole at the center of the three hole pattern, to get close. It is a little bigger than 5/8" diameter. Hopefully even through the padded vinyl you can find that hole and then as @bpilati mentioned, use a template traced from the visor. Good Luck. 😄
  21. I just happened upon this topic, did you ever get your question answered? Here is a picture of the faceplate from the radio for my 7/70, #6521. It has the "rounded font". I've owned the car for 47 years, so I'm quite sure it's original. I also have 1/70 fully restored Zed, #957. TO my surprise it's OE radio faceplate has the "blockish type font". I don't believe that it is the original radio to the car. Here's a pic. I had a look on BaT at a number of 70 and 71's, early and late with the early radio, and all had the rounded type font. I think that the block font ones are reproductions. Just a theory. Here is a snippet from 240zrubberparts.com. If you zoom in and squint It looks to me like a blockish font. Does anyone have one of these to check? https://www.240zrubberparts.com/product-page/70-71-am-radio-faceplate-complete https://www.240zrubberparts.com/category/all-products?page=3
  22. Just saw a '71(?) on CNN
  23. There is a great installation video on the S30world website. They don't use any weather strip glue. He does show using super glue for the butt joint at the middle of the lower section.

Just to add to the discussion, here are a couple instrument panel pics from a 1970 JDM Fairlady Z brochure that I have. @HS30-H, Alan are you able to translate item 17. I'm guessing "optional fog light switch" 🙂
