Interior creaking
Well, now that you say that and I think about it more, I'm no longer certain. It's been several years now since I've had any of mine out of the car. Maybe it wasn't felt. Could have been foam.So in short, please don't anyone take what I said above as being the gospel truth - I might be wrong.

e brake/emergency/park/parking brake cable repair
Nice work, and great write-up! I edited the thread title to make the topic more obvious, merged the two threads and promoted it to "Tech Article".

Interior creaking
I think the factory used felt, there were remains of it on most of my panels. (Well crushed, of course.) I've tried replacement felt, but I don't think the self-adhesive felt you can buy these days is thick enough to cushion it. The closed-cell foam is a better solution.

Z Therapy Arrival
Are the feed hoses from the float bowls to the jets kinked? Looks like it in the pictures.

Front Suspension
I'm not sure I understand what part you are trying to remove. Pictures might help. You are aware that the spindle is an integral part of the strut?

So, after a few years here and 900+ posts I suppose it's time I showed off my car...
I like it, Rob. Clean, classic and functional. I'm not feeling the Kosei's too much either, but they aren't bad enough to spoil the effect. Great work!

Now Braided Brake Master Vacuum Hose available for 240Z.
That's the same balance tube and configuration as on my very late '71, Dan. Yes, both of my master-vac hoses have badly aged cloth tapes on them. No way they're going to come off intact. No idea what to use to replicate that. I suspect that they used to be labels back in the day, similar to the ones Dan pictured.

Now Braided Brake Master Vacuum Hose available for 240Z.
So any thoughts on what type of tape will be appropriate for this purpose?

Rearend Vibration at 3000 rpm and above
OK, we can eliminate the engine and the transmission input shaft from the discussion. That leaves the rest of the tranny to worry about.
-
Rearend Vibration at 3000 rpm and above
Does it vibrate when revving in neutral? Test with both clutch depressed and not.
-
Rearend Vibration at 3000 rpm and above
Then the rear end and u-joints are not the cause. If it is always RPM-linked, regardless of gear (or road speed) it has to be in the transmission or engine.
-
Rearend Vibration at 3000 rpm and above
Does it always happen at 3000+ regardless of gear? Or is it only at 3000+ in top gear?

Now Braided Brake Master Vacuum Hose available for 240Z.
Randy, I thought that white ring was a piece of cloth tape - I guess I'll need to look at mine a bit closer. Can't tell for certain from this close-up, and don't have the car with me today.

These are supposed to be 280 seats!
I have those as an upgrade in my '71. They are from a '72 or '73 240Z. Don't know whether they were used on 260Z or early 280Z as well.

Now Braided Brake Master Vacuum Hose available for 240Z.
Excellent! I'll be wanting a set. But probably not until next month, as I already blew through my car budget for May!

Now Braided Brake Master Vacuum Hose available for 240Z.
But are they reinforced as well as fuel/oil resistant? Or will they collapse under vacuum?

Now Braided Brake Master Vacuum Hose available for 240Z.
Jay, are these the correct reinforced type hose?

Junkyard & "Out to Pasture" Zs
Some are, but some aren't. There are even a few that are mixed with both Series 1 & 2 parts. You'd need to look at it closely to decide.

Master cylinder res. confusion
The reason you have seen both ways is because 240Zs were built both ways. The large reservoir is always for the front brakes. The front calipers require more fluid than the rear cylinders do. The '70-71 240Z had the large reservoir at the front of the cylinder (farthest away from the firewall). The later '72-and-up cars had the large reservoir nearest the master-vac booster. I don't know if the prop valves are different or not. I know that to use the later master cylinder on an early car you have to reverse the lines to the prop valve. But which line goes where on a '73? I don't know for certain.

Which is the correct part # for the oil filter?
I'd be afraid that the red filter might clash with the blue engine block.

Which is the correct part # for the oil filter?
I prefer the blue factory look, and it doesn't really cost any more. My dealer keeps them on the shelf, they're about $6.50 each after club discount. Some of those listed here are rather ugly IMO, especially the Fram. That one is way too ugly to be on my car.
