The spook transformation
I don't see any way that it could be done semi-properly without drilling. Here's a discussion on mounting:http://classiczcars.com/forums/thread31644.html

The spook transformation
Looks great! I could say it, but I won't....

19 volts?
I assume you see these voltages with the engine running? If so, you have a bad voltage regulator. If, on the other hand, you get 18-19 volts with the engine off, you need a new meter....

Hello from AK and OR
I don't think I'll make it this year, Bruce. Not sure the Datsuns NW crowd would appreciate my Kraut car.... But for those of you with Datsuns, this is always a good event. Free plug...

is there a painless kit that fits the 73' ,thats relatively painless?
I'm with Steve, try to get a decent used harness from one of the established used vendors. As Steve noted, give them the month of production as well as the year to ensure compatibility with what you have. Note that the original wiring came in three major parts (dash, engine compartment and rear body) and several minor ones (notably the heater blower harness). The rear body harness is often not borked in your situation, the dash and engine harnesses are generally the ones you need. I see at least two '73 variations in the engine harnesses, and maybe three for the dash. This is why you want to give the month of production to the parts people. If you can't locate the ones to match the month of your car, you should be able to use a matched dash/engine pair from a different month '73 with few issues. All '73s - regardless of month and transmission - use the same rear body harness. Changing to a different year is more problematic. There are many changes beyond just the wiring between years. For example, the wiper wiring on a '73 (first year with intermittent wipers) is very different than earlier cars. Using a '72 harness would require a '72 wiper motor and combo switch as well. There are differences between manual and automatic. If your car is an automatic, you need the automatic harnesses for the dash and engine room. If you have a manual, you can use either. (Minor addition needed for auto harnesses w/manual.) In addition to Z Specialties, try to contact places like Bad Dog Parts and Z Barn.

Just installed my new BRE Lemans 15x6 wheels!
Love them! I strongly suspect that I'd probably have a set of those wheels if I still had a Z.

71 240Z. Muffler position. Vertical or horizontal?
I had to use a resonator with the Magnaflow on my 240Z, but more because mine was too loud with the dual-outlet muffler.

I spy a z!
Clean and sharp black 280ZX coupe today waiting for the light at 11th and Bertleson today a bit before 1:00 PM.

I spy a z!
Saw a dark green 280Z yesterday just after 5:00 PM heading north on Hwy 99, near Fairfield. Could have been a late 260Z, I suppose.

71 240Z. Muffler position. Vertical or horizontal?
Nope, just fit and/or personal preference.

71 240Z. Muffler position. Vertical or horizontal?
For a single tip exhaust, I prefer the looks of round-can mufflers back there, similar to the original. Are you having the exhaust done custom, or using the MSA kit?

is this real
Yeah, it's real. The blue ones were replacements from the parts department.

Lost the Clutch, but I made it home!
What he said. Do all three to be certain you have it well covered.

71 240Z. Looking for white letter tires.
As an aside, if your LeMans are the 15x6 (not 7") size, you may well be fine with either 205/60-15 or 195/65-15, even lowered. I think the taller sidewalls of those sizes will work better with painted/white letters.

Lec Trick 72 (not z)
I've met John, and have seen the Zombie in person. Amazing car. Every bit as startling at is seems in the videos.

Considering selling the Z...
You know what? That's not always the case. Some of us enjoy our cars for a while, and then it's time to move on. Don't get me wrong - a nice 240Z is a great car. But that doesn't mean it's the ONLY great car to have....

Vintage License Plates
As noted above, the plates offered in this link will not pass DMV inspection here in Oregon.I did add period correct Oregon plates to my 240Z while I had it. They weren't actually '71 vintage, the sequence I got was actually issued in early August '73. The same sequence was also correct for August '72. But they were close enough to look right on the car. I did keep them when I shipped the car off to Norway, just in case I get another pre-74 car in the future.

Article: Modify US 240Z rear turn signal wiring (JDM-style)
Yes, that's correct.

I ask, are this forums for members participation
If I'm understanding the question, yes. No restrictions on those forums. But in my experience, many members never look at them, using shortcuts that take them directly to the forums they are interested in.

I spy a z!
I know what you mean. I spent a week in the DC-area a few years ago, don't think I saw a single car or pickup more than 10 years old the entire week. Whereas back home, I routinely share the road during commute with numerous 20, 30 and 40 year old cars. Note that they don't just still exist out here, but they are still being used as daily drivers. '70's Chevy and Ford trucks are still small business workhorses here.

I spy a z!

I spy a z!
Same as with Michael, I see the late models every day. I will only report S30s and S130s here.

I spy a z!
I warned you. Zs are just not all that rare around here. I typically see them almost daily.
