1. yeah, ill post a pic of some of the designs ive been drawing out....ive got a friend that works with welding, and he said he'd do it for me if i bought him some drinks later heheh... this setup would have fairly short runners for more upper RPM ranges...ill still need to think about it some.
2. maxima runners have to attach to the head some how, so use the N42 mounting flange with injectors! maxima intake as a whole is big and ugly, we all know that. this would be a custom, and probbal better flowing intake than the maxima
3. no this method hasnt been discussed doing it this way. other methods have however......... ohh btw...why dont you just get the turbo electronics and switch them out to fix everything? just a thought :-)
4. dogma, are you serious? if i drain a bit out, drive it up there complain that it makes horrible noise and clunks, they will buy me a new rearend? it is a corporate store, not franchised... i know that is morally wrong to do it that way, but a brand new 3.9...and the idiot DID fill it from the drain plug. please tell me i can do this for real...now ive got to come up with a plan to excute it.
5. i only had to pay $20 for the whole thing, diffy and engine oil. i work at NAPA, and jiffy lube is in the same parking lot, and we both have accounts with each other.... the diffy is trash, but it seems everytime i change the oil, the noises keep getting quiter, and for now, thats what i want.... the only bolts i used a torque wrench on were engine stuf like head bolts and all the suspension. interior bolts and body panels and accessories i dont think need to be torqued... as for throwing a fit, i stood there when he did it, and said "uhh, thats not how you do it, there is a fill plug up top" hes like " ohh i cant get to it with this pump, dont worry, this is how we do it all the time" being that my diff is allready trashed and i doubt 2oz fluid too low will hurt it, i just said "ok whatever" now what i SHOULD do is go back to jiffy lube with my reciept and blame my trashed diffy on them filling it wrong, and they can pour it out just to see how much oil is in there. then id have a new 3.9! hahahaha evil.
6. ok so heres a thought. take the stock 280Z manifold, slice it in half right before the injectors, at a 90degree angle. now, take the maxima diseal inake, and slice the runners off those at both ends, so you just end up with straight pipes. now weld them onto the injector units that you cut off from the 280Z manifold. boom, youve got long runners with injector bungs at the end that bolts right up to the head. now for the pleum..... the diseal manifold is in two parts: runners and pleum. take the pleum off. build a flange and weld it to the end of the new runners you built, once again welding at a 90degree angle. then, drill bolt holes for the diseal pleum, and bolt it up. there ya go. youve got nice long, STRAIGHT runners, just like your 6TB's intake...except these would be straighter. all with 3 welding jobs, that wouldnt take that long at all. you follow me at all? nice long runners, and huge pleum...what do you think? im sans welding machine, so i think im going to attempt this is let my friends at a machine shop do the small welding jobs... pros with this? cons with this? other than injector placement and efficiancay.....we are sticking to as few of welds as possible. ohh then bump up the AFPR to like 55WOT or something and SDS or megasquirt.
7. already did spindel pins when i rebuilt the suspension. each pin took about, ohh 5 minutes. god loved me that day a whole lot. :-) as for the FSM, dont own one, built the car without one...i know the correct way to do it, i just felt lazy, and the diffy is allready trashed. bearings are trashed and the thing makes horrible noises, but i still drive it. go figure. ive replaced the fluid 3 times allready by myself the right way, and each time, the fluid is nice and shiny silver, with a few small chuncks here and there. like i said before, new dif. time. RTV on drain plug. damnit. you caught me!!! hehehe...nah, copper crush ring.
8. ohhh. ohh my. i do believe...wait, let me check... ahh yes, i did creame my pants.
9. ohh disclaimer: the 280Z, built or not, was meant to TRACK RACE, not drag race, so i just tell people that if they beat me. :-)
10. Theres a place where i live in marietta, GA where hundreds of kids go on fridays and saturday nights to hang out and look at each others cars, and race. lets just say there are always three brands there, toyotas, hondas, and fords. well, this weekend i decided to meet some of my friends up there. a whole bunch of just plain gay cars! why do they do that! then some turbo hondas, supercharged mustangs, blah blah. i can honestly say mine was the nicest! then a 280ZX comes up and parks next to me, so i start talking. well, saturday night on the way home, two mustang saleens, and a 350Z come up and pull in front of me, three lane road, im behind all three... oh and a giant crotch rocket pull inbetween. well, its a giant drag race! lets just say i saw the rear of their car the entire time, but i was only like 2 car lengths away, so i was impressed that i kept up...still fun though. im guessing my car runs a mid 14 sec now that ive done a few more things to it after my 15.096 run at rynolds....
11. Hey guys, i finally got around to installing my Grant wooden steering wheel which i like!, but the problem is, i cant get the damn thing straight! when i drive straight, the wheel is a little to the left. then i stop and correct it, then it is to the right...and there is no space between. i guess what i should be looking at is another adjustment point? the only two things i can think of is the beginning of the steering collum after the rubber bushing, and closer to the rack, but im scared moving those one notch will move the wheel way to much... any options guys?
12. is that right? they are gapped at .05 cause of the ZX upgrade and MSD coil....should i gap them at .04-.045? im concerned about the black ring around the outside. all new sensors, new AFM, new injectors, new everything, and 5000miles on the rebuilt engine... i cant seem to figure this darned tuning thing out. UGH!

14. ohh trust me. im my own Z's mechanic...i just got the lazy day and decied "eh, why not get some new oil" hehehe
15. i watched him do it. the nozzel that pumped the fluid was just the right size to fit in the hole... he pumped the pump and filled it "more than halfway" then stuck the plug in real quick... he said he does it all the time...and he "knows" how much it pumps. i dont really care anyways about the diffy...the thing makes so much noise allready, and clunks like a mother. its going to be replaced by another "better condition" 3.9 rear.
16. drove by jiffy lube a few days ago... i thought i have to admit it to you guys. yes i did it. i drove in and got my oil and differential fluid changed. i feel like i "embarrassed" my Z so bad...on the way home, the thermostat pipe on the side that i blocked off with a small plug decided to blow. i guess she was getting back at me. so i got home and replaced it with a threaded plug, and all is well. last time i go to jiffy lube, i know my baby didnt like it. not to mention they filled the diffy from the drain plug cause they "couldnt get to" the fill plug. ha. funny i can get to it. poons. just thought id share when i wanst faithful to my honey... wow. 1st time ive never changed my oil.
