  1. hey, you live in willimatte....thats cool, my bro and his girlfriend live there too! anywho, why dont you just switch over to a nicer head? like a regular P90, then get a cam upgrade? surprising you actually like hydrolic lifters :-)
  2. demolished...... i drove the Z again today....its great having people ask me what the heck happened to such a nice car.
  3. well i know that :-( im just saying.... the cars hood is gone, theres a foot deep crease in the center of the bumper...and the whole left side of the car is demolished. somehow or another, the car drives straight and perfect. i Love this car.
  4. so we know how i got a turbo Z31 for a daily driver, right? on my way to the GA coast last night, i had an encounter with a 4 leged hairy object. the most incredible feeling in the world was hitting it. shocked me to death, had complete control of the car the entire time. im thanking God i was driving a Z...everyone who saw it said i would have been dead if i were in another type of car... pictures coming soon...and the speed? about 78MPH-----------78MPH, i KNOW its becuase of the Z that i didnt die. the best part? i made it 320 miles back to ATL, my hometown to pull into my driveway with no problems what so ever. thank you Mr. K for inventing a car that saved my life, and from now on, will be with me forever.
  5. well, you are screwed. the clips are specific for that application, and they dont make them anymore. i checked lots of dealers, and thats a no go. you are going to have to find new trim with the clips still in place. thats what i did. the only other option is to secure them forever:JB weld
  6. OK guys, a few things.... a. its not steel, the website is wrong. its just as heavy as the old one... b. this is NOT a turbo designed intake. the runners are 9 1/4 in long, SUPURB for low RPM, which is what i want for a street car. SDS is the ECU im going to use. the car ran a 14.6 without flatops or any of this "new" stuff. im more than confident the car can hit 13's. you'd be surprised what higer-compression, supurbly flowing EFI manifold, and SDS can do...
  7. check the thread below this one, there are pleanty of pictures... go to www.lonewolfperformance.com talk to james, a LOT of testing and research went into. there ARE dyno numbers on a turbo, without this intake, and with it. +53 HP was the difference to the wheels...that along with tuning. the stock intake is a HORRIBLE design. if we had two exact same engines, both L28, but one carb, and one EFI, the carb would would make more power cause the carb intake is actually less restrictive than the EFI one. this intake is going to be INSANE on my setup. flatop pistons, SDS, this intake...im looking at high 13's in the 1/4
  8. well here she is in all her glory. $550 from Spork on zcar.com also known as Lonewolf Performance... they did an awesome job. 9.25 inch runners 1.43 inch runner ID velocity stacks!!
  9. dont worry about switching out intake manifolds if you are going turbo. trust me. you want to see automotive porn? check back in a second..il post a pic of my new manifold. there she is. tell me you didnt just wet your pants. now THAT sucker with 1.5 inch runners would be SSSIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKK for a turbo setup.
  10. well forced induction the stock intake is OK. but for a NA setup, the SU intake is even better than the EFI!!! ive got a new Lonewold Performance intake, with 9.25 inch runers, a HUGE pleum, velocity stacks, and lots of other goodies. i hope it flows excellent! only $500! it you are going turbocharged, the stock intake is fine for you...
  11. wow. that was a great read. you want to hear what happened to me? i had 180PSI on my newley rebuilt bored over L28. after 6K miles, ive got 150psi...hmm.. well it was time for custom EFI manifold and SDS, so i took the head off to get fully ported out and what did i find? well, hell. my "new" cylinder walls was gone. all the honing cross-hatches wasnt there, and i had horrible lines up and down the walls...i think i was running SO rich, that the rings got washed out during the break-in.. but dont worry, now ive got flattops, with good rings, and a perfect air-fuel ratio thanks to SDS...and a 13.9 second NA Z. so im happy.
  12. its a 5 speed that was swapped out. i had the right TB on there, but then when i got a new clutch i went to the dealer and got a new tb and clip and carrier.... damn, i bet they gave me the wrong one...
  13. its a 5 speed. now what else do i need to determine the TB size? 1. 5 speed 2. 2+2 bigger size clutch 3. ? 4. ?
  14. yup..adjusted the pedal... im wondering about the throwout bearing collar...i knew there were 3 differnt ones, but i think ive got the right one for the 2+2 clutch... im still a little worried...ive got a new centerforce II lined up ready to go, but i want to figure out the problem first befrore i install it.
  15. nope, never smelled a thing at all...ever... thats whats so wierd.
  16. trust me guys, i know how to drive a manual and thats not it...ive only seriously slipped the clutch once pretty badly in reverse, but thats all... could this be improper clutch adjustment? my gears also grind when shifting...im thinking the clutch isnt fully dis-engaging....
  17. guys, im in the middle of a small rebuild...(installing some new toys) and ive got a new clutch..so i took the old one off and found this: it is the larger of the two clutches....im just concerned about the two "rings" and that dark spot... the flywheel looks a little rough too...thats surface rust, but yet again, the "ring" see what im talking about? normal clutch wear after hard driving of 7k miles? i noticed when the car was full up of stuff the clutch would slip a little when i push her to the limit..thats why im gettin the certerforce 2...
  18. and the bad news with me is i didnt even try to put those in when i changed the whole back suspension...just torqued down both sides of the spindle and i check it eveytime i do an oil change, all is well...she aint goin anywhere...
  19. i can take a vette? no no, i was behind it about half a car length....but still the point is HE thought my car was amazing! and thats the cool part. people with porches and vettes, and cameros, and heck, every car made think this car is beautiful
  20. good question... i restored it, well, because i broke it :-) i bought the car when i turned 17, not running, rusty, and now im 18 and the damn thing gets every look wherever i go. theres nothing better than pulling up to a 2005 corvette at a stop light, and him rolling down his window and says how sweet my Z is. then we take off :-) (custom EFI manifolds and SDS works f.y.i) ive got the car running a 13.9 N/A non-stroked (SDS, cutsom EFI manifold, check my gallery)...thats pretty fast, quicker than most, well, lots of cars. and the point is, there is a performance issue to it. how many hondas can you jump in and fly around corners really fast, and STILL get looks from everybody on the road? i love my car, it poped up in my life, and it will be with me till i have a son to pass it on too. im sorry, but a 1967 restored corvette, or a 1976 restored datsun Z...hmmmmmm...i wonder which i would take, and wonder what everyone would look at? everybody sees restored corvettes or mustangs or cameros or some gay stuff like that. its not everyday you see a fully restored, performance modified Datsun. to sum it up: The reason i own and restored a 280Z 2+2 is for the compliments on my achievement.
  21. check out my gallery and the main page! ive got a $2000 twin! OMG for $2000!!! it was a STEAL. brand new paint, GREAT interior, everything inside works, POWER EVERYTHING, non leaking T-TOPS and thanks to a firned, a full scale tune up. Auto tranny shifts smooth and great, no problems at all!
