I agree but I think there's enough out their that the price won't be over $200 for a while for a set of good drums. $150 might be a little on the high side right now but in two years that might be a good deal.
  2. Not Cool, but interesting. That's a good reminder for the rest of us to check the torque on the fasteners. I'm glad that is all it did you have a nice car and would have hated to see it damaged because a 50 cent nut and 20 cent lock washer went
  3. Dam, I contacted them this weekend nope we have no Datsuns or 240z, 260z, or 280z. Thanks for the help, It looks like faster striping time did you need some parts? Decoy12 Yes I can use 95% of what you have their. The other 5% I'll keep on hand. I'll PM you later
  4. That would be great it would be nice to find a car that I can pull sometimes you find parts you want to hold. These will match any 240z All bolts for timing cover, and water-pump, all the fasteners to mount the alternator Screws for grill, wiper arm mounts (under the cowl), all the screws that hold all the parts connected to the left wheel well inside the engine compartment ( the scews that hold the light, fuel filter . . .), rear brake light screws, filler neck screws, the ones that connect the headlight support to the inner fender. Hose clamps looking for the original wire type for the heater hose, bunch of the small fuel hose clamps, the ones that connect to the intake manifold, the fuel inlet hose, all the tank clamps. On any of the fasteners and hose clamps that are original if your stripping a car down I could take, having extras would be nice. Like the round headed screws the current factory replacement numbers are bolts not screws I learned this the hard way. Besides I have the stuff to plate. If you find these parts 70/71 ashtray, good smog pump, black sunvisors
  5. They don't make it any more but I have seen sets for sale on ebay. Also check with someone who gets stuff from Japan they might be able to get it. I don't know how hard it will be to get the item with what happened, but I would not let that stop me from trying.
  6. Good points, The only thing I'd recommend is try using a heat gun in a feathering motion till the plastic soften, sometimes this will reinvigorate the plastic so you don't need to paint.

11mpg at 75mph is not bad at all I wonder what MT in mine would get
  8. You might see if you can find a Gretty or Trust head gasket set. They are copper that you layer to get the right thickness

I know a guy didn't do the maintenance as well as they recommended and has 160,000 when we replaced the original plugs and still runs great. I found it interesting one side has NGK and the other Denso plugs, the Denso plugs had twice the diode left compaired to the NGKs I hope to get 20 years minimal out of my 07, I've only put 23,000 on so far. Mine has the ARB roof rack, all the factory option but traded the wheels for the steel ones.

Looking good, you spent all this time on repairing the body you might want to strip it down before painting so you get a great paint job. By the way nice color on the FJ the same as mine.
  11. I'd agree that almost any Datsun will do but I don't find them either. NJ has a small part below the Mason/Dixon line and part that fells well below that line (Salem County). Let me know if you find one to pick from down your way I used to go to a yard in Erie, CO which was almost an hour drive back then to get parts for my first Z.

The good news is the pistons might be reusable if not crack makes sure you test for cracks. I see a lot of carbon so I would imagine the valves could have been stuck open from that. This is why I was told with these cars to check and make necessary adjustments every year and I have religiously.
  13. I don't have a place to store one that's the problem, otherwise I would have gotten that one for sale in Old bridge.

Before you take the head off run some cleaner through the intake and see if you can get pressure after that. Also on your compression test did you pull all the plugs, and is the starter good, because 200psi is low you should be closer to 250psi for a 71? If you pulled the plugs you might be ready for a rebuild.

OK you committed a correctable taboo showing your new car pictures are needed, and info like when it was made and any mods you got to let us know what you got.
  16. I have one on the classifieds you could have used
  17. I've been having a hard time with replacing fasteners and a few hose clamps. I didn't originate from the area I live in now and don't know the salvage yards well enough to find another Z any help? PA, DE, Maryland, southen NY, and NJ locations will work. I've called all the salvage yards several times, I'm about to make a trip west to get the parts if I can't find them hear.
  18. Nice did you use resonator up front or a muffler
  19. A friend of mine got the Z bug and is looking for one well I found this car with a SuperSprint exhaust. It's a 72 and he bought the exhaust in 73, all the resonators are round shape and the tips are rounded in instead of cut flat like mine.
  20. cygnusx1 You could replicate with larger pipe one of the old setups, Jones exhaust makes a resonator that matches the size of the SuperSprint resonators, except they don't make one with the inlet and outlet at 1.25", the smallest was 1.5". They have the same body size up-to 2".
  21. OK I think we could cram it between the rails of a model A
  22. I would not use 3.14 for pie you will have rounding errors in the equations, I'd use 3.14159
  23. Banzai is great no problems they just need to sell more parts that I need since I bought all they have, that I needed.
  24. This is great these parts will help a lot of us. I hope the plastic parts go well we could use other parts like 70/71 ashtrays, but they can be a liitle more complicated. When I had my 72 the fuse cover would scare me to open I fixed it but the plastic was getting very brittle. Good luck with these parts.
  25. Spray with penetrating oil daily for a while and it might brake free. Heat the housing with a torch around the plug, maybe even use a little dry ice on the plug after the housing is heated up. You will burn the oil. If you damaged the plug you might want to new one before taking it out
