Hey Chris: If you get this situation resolved on your car, let us know the particulars (P/N's, etc) as I'm sure many of us would be interested in replicating this safety system. Thanks. Carl

or a mental image. Sorry Victor, I couldn't resist. Any of you who read my posts know that I suck at spelling, and often edit (repeatedly) in order to correct my errors. Don't worry Bill, we have a "prsident" who can't pronounce "nuclear"! PS If anyone is interested, I found a handy little toolbar for spelling at Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/tools/toolbar/download.html

More electrical trouble, need suggestions
Tom; I am not sure how to tell by looking at the alt if it is internally regulated or not. 72 Z's used an externally regulated one and there is a separate voltage regulator mounted on the inner fender. I was just wondering if maybe a shop installed the wrong alternator (an internally regulated one) and left the external regulator in the circuit. Grasping at straws here. I hate electrical problems! PS IF the alt has been upgraded to Internal Regulated, there is a Tech Article on a modification to the Chassis wiring that would need to be done (at the plug for the original External regulator). Don't do this mod unless you are certain of which Alt you have in the car.

It could be that we (as a club) are a more tight knit (less of a free-for-all) community than you are familiar with over at Zcar.com? Anyway, Welcome to the club and feel free to join in the discussions. I am familiar with some of your exploits (having read some of your posts at ZCar and emails from the IZCC list) and you have a lot of wisdom to offer. I'm sure Mike will get back to you shortly. Carl

Norm: Please don't put words in my mouth. I am not complaining about your posts. Just pointing out the obvious facts. If you had 50 posts and all of them were "for sale" posts, I might feel differently, but as it is currently, I am not complaining about your posts. I just tried to offer a possible explanation for previous posts to this thread, based on my experiences with members of this club.

This isn't my website but I think the problem may be that you only post to our club with stuff for sale. You never partiscipate in the "member" Q & A's, or forums. There are Non-Comercial Posting rules that, to some people, you may appear to be in danger of violating.

At least you aren't wandering!

Is your Reman Alt an Externally regulated one, or did you convert to Internally Regulated? If you did a conversion, are you sure that it was done correctly (diode, etc)?

According to one of the F1 Team Engineers (sorry, can't recall which one) 30% of the downforce is generated by the undertray. My understanding is that it's the Rear Wings that cause the trailing car to lose downforce when following closely. Indy Cars, and NASCAR suffer from it too. Take away the wings? I dunno. Tires are truly ugly, but can you imagine the performance if they went back to slicks? or the 22" - 24" wide tires of old school F1? Current tires outperform the slicks they replaced just a few years ago. Cornering speeds are already KA-RAY-Z Rules are rules. Williams should have known they were in violation, and Charle Whiting (FIA) should have known and acted immediately. I believe that Williams and Montoya were robbed of a good finish at last years Indy F1, but this year is a different story. Just like in Canada, theyviolated a rule that everyone should have known about. I agree that engine configuration should be open. Place a financial cap on engine costs, and/or require manufacturers to make same spec engines available to more than one team, if requested. There is nothing like a V12 screaming at full chat. I like the pitstops. There have been very few and basically minor issues with the equipment used to fuel. No auto race sactioning body is going to allow mechanics to wear shorts. NASCAR crews look happy in their "spacesuits" to me, high-fives all around after each good stop. F1 mechanics wait until the end of the race to show much emotion, but they climb the fences/walls in celebration. Safety of personnel dictates this, but at least F1 doesn't use full course cautions and Safety cars as often as CART/Champ Cars. This is why I've quit watching and attending Champ Car events. (and I ws a huge CART supporter) Safety of personnel dictates this. I think ALL professional auto race sanctioning bodies have these rules in place now Great Racing! But even with TiVo I sometimes miss it due to two other events being broadcast at the same time. But I still enjoy it when I can.

Ecellent news, Jason. Learn all you can at the shop. This is something that can serve you well throughout your adulthood as you continue an automotive hobby. Priceless!

No, not everyone obeys the rules, but everyone understands the penalty for not doing so. It isn't "my" point, it's the law. When we don't obey (myself included) we pay and we know why. We grumble to ourselves about misfortune or bad luck, pay the fine and move on to the important stuff like fixing our car, or learning to watch more carefully for other cars or cops. I'm not a special case, neither is CrashNBurn, or you. None of us can change the law, for better or worse we are stuck with it. That is all my posted point ever was meant to state.

If you persist in whining because you CHOOSE to disobey the laws that everyone else manages to obey, you don not deserve any consideration from me! I didn't attack anyones opinion, I pointed out the LAW. If you do not obey the law, you pay the price. Simple! Welcome to the real world! Don't like the law? Change it, or don't drive. Just stop the whining! Some day, when you grow up you'll understand how the world works.

Yeah, and they got a lot of exposure while Ralf sat in the middle of the track while the safety workers ignored him! :stupid:

Glove box replacement?
I have followed the thread from the beginning. MikeW mentioned his desire for a template, abas offered him one, MikeW spent time and money to use that material to create a box. I think MikeW is still seeking to break even at this point. If there are profits, maybe they will be shared, but that would be a private matter between the two of them. So make one. My opinion is that your public request is in poor taste given the stated shipping cost to AU and the efforts and expenses already incurred. (perhaps your request should have been in a PM)

Yes, I understood the intentional spelling error. As for Testosterone, well with a name like Jayne, any test. is excess IN MY BOOK. ( if the person is in fact female, I can use any name on the internet)

Whats the difference Z or Zx
Hi Rick: I think the Aussie way is the best in this case. Everyone should be required to vote. It is sad when the people who lead our country are chosen by 50% of the eligible, registered voters. No wonder we end up with some real wankers running the show.

Rear Suspension Urethane Bushings
No Problem David. It's a little hard to explain. And it's the sort of thing you want to get done right the first time. I'm attaching a diagram with red arrows to show the areas that I put a bevel on. I beveled the back side (inner most, behind the brake backing plate. Imagine the strut (upright) being pushed back into the open sectuion of A-Arm (as shown in diagram). Looking at the front position (Labeled "A") bevel at about 9 o'clock Looking at the rear position (Labeled "B") bevel at about 3 o'clock

Rear Suspension Urethane Bushings
Not sure I understand what you mean. "Get them out"? Pins & old bushings are out? Yes? New bushings are installed in Transverse link (A-Arm? Yes? Grind slight bevel on bottom of strut tube where bushings and spindle pins will fit.

Glove box replacement?
Probably not a very kosher thing to ask, since MikeW spent time, energy, and money (which he hasn't recouped as yet) to reverse engineer and produce the glovebox. JMO & $.02 USD
