This Z was stored in a chicken coop since 1987
To each, his own opinion, but Sorry Enrique........... I strongly disagree. That he was "dared" and did post here has only to do with some clown wanting to see us react to something that is obviously not what we care about (chopping up a pristine Z) for his/their own enjoyment of our predictable reactions and ls1240Z accepting the dare for his/their amusement. I've never seen anyone here send a person to HybridZ (or anywhere else) just to watch a flame war develop. When someone is refered to another site by our club, it is done to assist that person with a better resource for their needs. Clearly, that was not the purpose of the "dare" or the acceptance of it. As for fanatical, have you ever seen how newbies are treated at HybridZ when they ask a question that is deemed unworthy of an answer? Many, many times they are treated like $hit. IMO, far worse than anyone gets treated here. He got what he expected/wanted and I don't feel any apology is necessary.

Ask a local body shop? They may have handfuls of them laying around.

Chrome2GO ???
Never heard of the company or eBay seller. I'd contact eBay. Stop payment if possible.

Congratulations, Sean! If you start building a Z for him now, it will be ready to go when he is ready to drive it.

79 ZX MC & Booster on 72 240Z
I believe that it does. I've never heard of someone having to swap boosters with the m/c. Can anyone confirm this from personal experience for Miles?

MidwestZ??
These auctions (really "Buy-It-Nows") were placed today. I had checked eBay last night and nothing was up for auction. I Went to their eBay "store" page, and no parts were listed, the notation was that "all items had been sold". I have sent an email to the address listed in the auctions.

1971 Datsun Z-Series 240z over $5600 invested NO Resv
No reason to knock the price down to $500, since he's already got a $1000.00 bid

What do you care about the motor? Pull it and sell/give it away, you've got the motor that you want waiting to pop into it. With all of the "chop, cut, and rebuild" you have planned. whats a little bodywork? From the pic, it looks like a fender replacement would fix it. An hour's drive to inspect it personally would seem to be worth the effort to someone who is really interested in finding a car. You drove that far to find this one in Petaluma. Don't expect to get $7K for a car that hasn't run in 14 1/2 years ("will run after a change of fluids", how do you know? it could have stuck valves, too, or worse) , has had its rear brakes destroyed, interior stripped and then "mostly" put back. All of this impacts the value. As for the rudeness you have encountered, maybe it has something to do with the dare that you accepted when you showed up here. The attitude you showed in your first post has colored the opinion some people have of you. You had the balls to post a link to the HybridZ "Dare" thread, so most of us know the agenda you had when you showed up here. Then, when you got called on the "dare", you deleted the link, but we aren't stupid, the link was saved and has been passed around to those who are interested.

I think you'll also have to drill new holes in the firewall to mount it.

GregP received his parts after contacting PayPal in regards to the transaction he had paid for via PayPal. If you paid via PayPal, contact them. If you paid via Visa or Mastercard, contact them.

1971 Datsun Z-Series 240z over $5600 invested NO Resv
The auction has now been altered to indicate (via a question asked by a potential bidder) that the car has a 2.8L L6. No idication as to whether it was from a 280Z or ZX

1. Have you looked at this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2486140779 2. Just to make it clear to all, many folks on HybridZ also suggested that you sell this car and build a different one. It's not like we are the only ones who thought you were making a mistake in rushing to kill this car. 3. Why are you in such a hurry to find an excuse to kill this car?

Front cover finish
Does the paint on your engine block burn off? NO! There are areosol products ( I hesitate to call them paint) that are designed for mid range high temperatures. It doesn't have to handle 1400 degrees F like an exhaust manifold coating. Products like this are sold at auto supply and hardware stores all over the USA. I suspect that similar products can be found in OZ. http://www.eastwoodco.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=261&itemType=PRODUCT&RS=1&keyword=clear

Beware of George G. Robbins (aka: reddat)!!!
Sorry that you lost money on the wheels, Wayne. Like any tool, it is only as good as the data that is input. If the calculater is set up wrong, and gives a wrong cost, that would (I believe) be grounds for a winning bidder to back out of the sale. It's not the bidders fault that a seller F's it up anymore than it's the seller's fault if the buyer doesn't confirm costs before bidding to win. With the option to include a handling fee there is no need to "pump up" shipping costs by exagerating the size and weight, though it can be done. All I as a winning bidder care about is the bottomline shipping cost. If it's too high IMO (for whatever reason) I pass; if it's reasonable I bid. I will always hold sellers to the shipping that is quoted. I can't think of one reason not to do so. My experiences as seller of small items has been that the Shipping Calculator is quite accurate for USPS Priority Mail.

Missing threads
I think there is something wrong with the database. I tried to look up some threads that I participated in back in 2003, and I could only find 500 threads that I've partisipated in. i KNOW that with 4,000 posts I've partisipated in more than that.

I'm probably going to be beat up for this...
Well good for you

Beware of George G. Robbins (aka: reddat)!!!
ebay has had a nice little feature called "Shipping Calculator" for at least the past 6 months. Seller opts to include it in the auction (free of cost) and the bidder can enter his/her zip code to get a shipping cost quote based on USPS, UPS, or FED EX. Seller can even set it up to include a "handling fee" in the calculation. To not use this handy little tool, or state a fixed cost in an auction leaves the door wide open for a shipping cost rip off. Beware of people who choose not to use it, or state shipping costs.

or spray it with a clear coating and be done with it. (Polishing is overrated unless you have lots of time and nothing else to do) JMO

Key codes
Stock '71 and '73 240Z's for North America came from the factory with all locks keyed the same. Only the earliest Z's came with two different keys (cut on one side)

1971 Datsun Z-Series 240z over $5600 invested NO Resv
Why? It was rebuilt 10+ years ago, still has zero miles on it, and doesn't run. Big gamble IMO as to whether it will ever run, and owner doesn't even value it enough to place a reserve on the auction.

Heater Water Valve??
Let's see now, your car has a Mack Speedo cable, and Heater valve, I've got a feeling the Bulldog Hood Ornament and Air Horn must have been on back order!
