It Looks Very Nice, I suspect it's worth close to the almost $11K he's asking. I thought 72 Z's with that color paint (110 Red), only came with WHITE interiors. Anyone have a "known" original 72 with a Black interior from the factory?? I don't think that is overspray on the dash. When taking pictures like that you often get a reflection of the paint from the door onto the Dash in the finished picture. Although I do question a couple of his statements in the ad "FRAME-OFF" ROTISSERIE RESTORATION??? on a unibody chassis???? The automatic transmission was removed, resealed, and a new flywheel fitted. ????? Flywheel on an Automatic trans car?? [/list=1]
  2. Doesn't look like the early E88 head to me, unless someone has been "playing with it". What does everyone else think?
  3. The valve sizes are the same as far as I know on bothe early and late E88. Attached pic shows config of Early E88.
  4. I hope GM (and Ford, etc) is regretting closing so many US plants and shipping the jobs to Mexico and Canada. For that they deserve to lose market share and $$$$$$$$$. Statement speaks for itself. No further comment will be made.

Interesting look to the wheels. Usually see 5 slot, not six. Seller claims "OEM Factory". Doesn't know what he's taking about.
  6. Good riddence to another Dinosaur! Last night on SPEED TV's "Windtunnel" they were stating that Toyota had Profits of $10 BILLION in the fiscal year that ended in March 04. GM and FORD combined to earn $4.3 BILLION in the same fiscal year. Less than half of Toyota's profits! http://www.detnews.com/2004/autosinsider/0405/12/c01-150577.htm

If the disc has fallen out from where it belongs, you remove the booster, take the rod out and twist and shake the booster until the disc (hopefully) reappears. Then you grab it (disc) and when the booster is installed, you carefully reinstall the disc where it belongs, insert the rod, mount the M/C. If nothing else is wrong, your brakes should work right.
  8. Y'all may want to save the Blackhawk idea for a possible meet in June when the ZONC Z Car event is there (6/23, I think). I hear that Mr K. will be there. Didn't attend last year, but the previous year the museum was open with free admission also. Mentioned just for your consideration EDIT: Event is 6/26/04 ! !
  9. No criticism intended, but for clarity, this item is the Brake Booster, or Master Vac unit. A vacuum operated unit that assists in transmitting brake pedal pressure to the actual brake hydraulic system.
  10. They were advertised as out of a 1969 240Z, and those seats CANNOT BE original seats from a 1969, 1970, or 71 240Z. Looking at the seat mounts, I don't think they are from a ZX either, but who knows?

Right behind the rod that you mentioned (center of the booster). If you have an FSM, I believe (could be wrong, since it's been a while since I looked) that there is a illustration that shows the part. As for needing a new one, well..........I guess that depends on if you have extra money to spare, or cannot find the disc to reinstall. They aren't cheap by my standards.
  12. FYI In the previous threads, Ground Control was suggested as a source for suspension mounted rear sway bars, HOWEVER, they no longer stock/sell early Z car suspension parts.

If the reaction disc is the problem, the only fix I have heard is to pull the booster, then tip and turn it until you find the disc and replace it securely where it belongs. I believe that the booster can be opened but special tools are required.

Try the "Search" feature. We had a poll/thread about this subject a year or so ago.

Who told you this? Too Intense Restorations? Well, who ever told you that is flat out WRONG!! No argument, just the facts
  16. MSA's Sway Bar Set DOES rquire drilling of holes in the floor pan for the rear bar. Check into Suspension Techniques for a bar that DOES NOT require drilling. (well, it did not require drilling in the ZTherapy Suspension Video anyway)

Steve: I couldn't find the thread, but someone (somewhere) on the site has previously indicated that this situation is (or can be) caused by the little rod that fits between the booster and the M/C being not adjusted (in regard to length) correctly. I don't remember the specifics of correction but I believe "trial and error" was involved. The only thing I really remember was that for me it was going to be important to never mix things up or change things in this area. Sorry I can't help more, but maybe someone else remembers more on the subject or can find a link to the thread.

  19. There are many components of the 240Z front end that can cause the steering wheel to wobble. Are you sure the "play" isn't in the inner or outer tierod ends, or the wheel bearings? I would doubt that the new ball joints are the problem. Poorly balanced tires/wheels can cause the wobble, as can the rubber donut between the upper and lower sections of the steering collumn.
  20. I joke with people all the time, and refer to 350Z's as the afterbirth of my 240Z.

I would only strip the floors and maybe 1/2 way up the trans tunnel on my car because those are the only places I've seen any rust at all. Areas that have ABSOLUTELY NO RUST, I would leave alone. Places that have "spot rust" or worse, I'd strip and treat appropriately. JMO
  22. Yes, that pic from Steve is John. (foreground)

The only plae I know to get Remanufactured SU carbs is http://www.ztherapy.com/. They are IMO better than new. I do not know of anyone who can get "new" OEM SU carbs. The prices you mentioned are normal fromk my experience. You can buy rebuild kits much cheaper and try rebuilding your own carbs (the only problem with that is that on most 30 yr old carbs, the throttle shafts are worn and leak air).
  24. Ferrari is the Featured Marque this year. The last time I attended when Ferrari was featured, the factory flew in several cars from their museum that are never seen in the US. Phil Hill was in attendance and took most of them for a few laps on track. If you are a member of the Tifosi, don't miss this event!
  25. I forgot to mention, I also check the sellers history. That will tell you if he sells the same stuff over and over (inidcating that he has stock).
